When you live in such a beautiful place you are able to revisit locations often. I’ve been revisiting this specific spot many many times over the last 15 years. Over the last 5 years I’ve seen this composition but something has been up with it. Too much water splash on the rocks, water simply too high, weird rocks in the pocket… but recently I revisited it again, armed with my Canon RF 200-800mm lens. And I got this shot. Minimal clean up of some bird p**p in editing but this was captured at 800mm. Gosh I love this lens.

Steve and the Picket Fence!

This was my first time ever seeing the picket fence Aurora! I’ve seen many photos and have just missed seeing it many times so it was amazing to be able to see it last night.

I had checked the Aurora forecast a few days ago knowing I had a night workshop on Monday. I didn’t get a chance to check the forecast the day of but I always take a photo north at some point to check. As we were walking to the car from our blue hour location, I stopped beat in my tracks and was like “THE NORTHERN LIGHTS ARE OUT!!!” So we ran to the car and hopped over to Peyto which was already our intended location for stars. We had an amazing hour and a half with the northern lights and Steve and then the picket fence showed up around midnight.

I don’t often share my drone photos, not on purpose but simply because I can’t find my microSD card reader to put them on my computer. I finally found one and uploaded images from the last year.

I am still learning how to confidently fly my drone and how I can best photograph the landscape from those heights. We have such little area around here that you can actually legally fly the drone so that adds additional challenge.

Anyways, here are some images.

There is one spot left on my Fall On The Parkway workshop where we will be in an area where drones are allowed if you are interested!
