My little boy with eyes so blue,
Hair of gold, heart so true.
You make me smile with every grin,
And fill my heart with love within.

Starting school, grade one awaits,
A new adventure, exciting dates.
Your curious mind will now expand,
Discovering new things at every hand.

Reading, writing, counting too,
All these skills will come to you.
Your warm heart will make friends fast,
And your laughter will be unsurpassed.

Six years have passed so fast,
And memories of them will always last.
My precious son, I love you so,
And will watch you as you continue to grow.

ā€œNo Dream Is Too Highā€ (Buzz Aldrin)

Another one of my images currently on display at the at 65 Simcoe Street Studio 4 in , . Showcased until October 30th, go check it out!

This is a image of my son in his costume last year. He didn’t want to wear the mask that came with the costume…but not wearing it and seeing his face actually makes this image much more!

I chose the title for this image to connect with the innocence and intensity of children’s dreams for the future. Nothing is impossible in their dreams! Somewhere along the way to adult hood we loose a lot of that, and thus our dreams become much more limited. Imagine what would be possible if we kept on dreaming like children, without limitation of the ā€œimpossibleā€.

Impossibility is really a result of experiencing disappointment and giving up, or not trying as hard the next time. All things possible were once impossible until someone refused to believe in impossibility. We wouldn’t be driving cars, building skyscrapers, flying airplanes, have phones or computers, explore space and so much more. So many things we take for granted were once impossible.

My son loves building Lego creations, each one a true invention of something that’s never been built before. He will explain in detail how each component works when his creation is finished. And so, he has built out of Lego a lawnmower that cuts grass with a laser that you can program to create fancy designs in the lawn. Or a drone that is powered by honey.

What can you of that is ?

I am proud and honored to announce that this image was chosen as the winner for this year’s photo competition held by the Blue Mountain Foundation of the Arts ( ) in Collingwood.

This image is titled ā€œBy Heart We Believeā€. It is a composite photo that I created for Christmas 2020. A Christmas that was marked by Covid and restrictions. A Christmas where maintaining the innocent beliefs of children seemed more important (and harder!) than ever.

I grew up in Germany, without a belief in Santa. It was no less beautiful and magical, the story and belief in the miracle of love and peace with the birth of baby Jesus.

Many years later, when I had my own kids in Canada, I was not sure how to deal with having a Santa. I knew they would have all of their friends believe in Santa. I didn’t want to take that from them. But I also wanted them to know that Christmas is the celebration of the birth of love and peace. So, we celebrate the miracle of the Christmas Story, and Santa is the one who delivers some presents. I think it’s a good way to incorporate both.

In essence, it does not matter what we believe or how those beliefs are symbolized. What matters is that we believe in doing our best, every day, to be kind and loving.

ā€œBy Heart We Believeā€, WHATEVER your belief!

On display at the Blue Mountain Foundation of the Arts Gallery, at 65 Simcoe Street, in Collingwood, Ontario.

I printed this image on a beautiful framed canvas (). It is even more stunning in person, come check it out!

ā€œTraveler, there is no path. The path is made by walking.
The path is your tracks. And turning, you look back at a way you will never tread again.ā€ (from a poem by Antonio Machado)

I captured this gorgeous lake effect streamer while ice fishing on Lake Simcoe yesterday. Didn’t catch any fish, but I prefer hunting for a great images anyways šŸ˜€
