From the time I picked up my first crayon, I knew I was destined for a creative life! Connections are important to me. Melissa

I grew up on a farm in Southwestern Ontario, surrounded by beautiful scenery that fueled countless daydreams and allowed my wild imagination to soar! I found my way to Barrie when I decided to study Interior Design. I enjoyed 15 years in the design industry and had so many wonderful and memorable experiences in my career as a designer! Photography has always been an important part of who I am. As

soon as I learned to use my parent’s camera I became the family “historian”, documenting the everyday moments and our most important milestones. The day I became a mother, documenting every moment of our little girls amazing existence became my obsession. Years later I decided to go back to school to formally study Photography, learning the technical knowledge that has allowed me to expand my creative skillset. When our second daughter was born I realized that I wanted to create something that allowed me to follow my creative passion and help other people capture their treasured memories. This is how Melissa Edwards Photography was born! I love learning about your stories and creating something beautiful with you! I want you to feel at ease in front of the camera so that you can be your authentic selves. This gives me the opportunity to truly capture moments that you and yours will treasure for years to come! Wearing flowers pinned to clothing dates as far back as Ancient Greece, when small bunches of fragrant flowers and herbs were worn at weddings to ward off evil spirits. During the 16th and 17th centuries, corsages and boutonnieres were a part of daily life to prevent disease and to ward off evil spirits, but over time, they became special-occasion pieces.
The corsage has gone through some major changes since they were introduced but they are still just as special and important as they were then!

I always see other photographers take this photo but with beautiful, soft and delicate flowers! I decided that scratchy branches would be beautiful, stuffed in my daughters boots! While the outcome turned out beautifully, she will forever be terrified of lilacs now! 😂
