Not my typical post and no this has nothing to do with my business. Perhaps its best to keep these types of posts seperate from my business page but I cannot stay silent while our children and educators are treated this way!
My 8 year old son along with thousands of other families across Ontario are being robbed of school support and funding for therapies.
Today I was at Queen's Park in Toronto with the . Fighting for Leo, fighting for educators, fighting for special education, fighting for all autistic children in Ontario who are not getting the support and therapies they so desperately need.
The waitlist for therapy funding in Ontario for children with autism has over 60k kids on it. Leo is one of those children. He has been on the waitlist for nearly 5 years. We pay for every therapy out of pocket.
We spend about 10k a year and its no where near enough. Leo is considered low needs, kids who are high needs need so much more funding but they go without. The waitlist grows and grows. Critical years go by and the chance for early intervention is lost.
This leads to more behaviors and more challenges in the classrooms but unfortunately there is no classroom support. Schools are ridiculously underfunded, teachers are starved for resources. Educators and families are drowning. No support, no funding, no nothing!
