There are some sessions that hit close to home and stay near to your heart.

Paola, Shevon, and Courtney reached out asking if we could do a group session together with the three of them and their horses that they ride regularly at the barn together. We had a fluke storm that came down the minute that we were supposed to start, followed by a beautiful rainbow and sunset. This is your reminder to go with the weather flow and see what happens!! Calm after the storm was a very real this evening.

I may be biased but some of the best friendships are formed at the barn. Thank you for having me out to capture your very special friendship together 💓

That early morning October light✨🌞

October is my absolute favouriteeee month of the year for getting up early as a photographer. There seems to be a different weather condition each day- warm sunrises, fog, overcast clouds, and steam from the horses.

This year has been a big eye opener for me, not only as a photographer, but as an equestrian who’s been involved in the industry for 10+ years.

Whether it’s stepping into the competition ring, achieving a personal best, or reaching a goal you’ve been working toward in lessons, there are thousands upon thousands of hours of hard work behind it.
It is truly a lifestyle like no other, with a unique support system of coaches, friends, families, and surrounding barns.

The show ring is only a small part of the story. There’s so much beauty in everything it takes to get there. Early mornings, setbacks, smiles and tears, and the countless hours spent working toward that one goal- an accomplishment on its own.

Looking forward to our last Silver show of the season, a show to reflect on how far we’ve all come as riders, coaches, business owners, and everyone in between who make it possible🩷

One of my most frequently asked questions is: ‘what colours will go best with my horse for this time of year?’

Choosing proper colours for a photo session is one of the most important things you can do in preparation for your shoot. Not only does it support the natural background colours and environment, but it makes both you and your horse look effortlessly cohesive and polished.

If you’re having a hard time choosing, I always recommend classic warm neutrals such as creams and tans, as well as deep Hunter and Forest greens.

It seems like the rainy weather is trending this week, which means we get super cool textured shots like these🙌🏻

Finding different ways to photograph a ring you’ve been at 100+ times can be sooo difficult when you have the same perspective- different weather conditions allow for interesting shots with contrast + movement + detail.
