They were still tucked safely beneath her heart- hiccuping at midnight, stretching against her ribs, living in that quiet in-between space we only get for a little while.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And now here they are. Curled up on her chest. Tiny fingers instinctively wrapping around hers. The same heartbeat they listened to for nine months now echoing softly beneath their ear.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s wild how quickly the story shifts- from waiting and wondering to memorizing every little detail. The swirl of hair. The flaky toes. The way they fit perfectly in her hands, as if they were always meant to be there.

This chapter is slow and sleepy and fleeting all at once. And one day, when they’re no longer this small, these images will bring her right back to the beginning.🤍

The way she leans in when she laughs.
