🏁 As derby season is winding up, I thought it would be fun to take a trip down memory lane…

Almost 12 years ago, my brother and I climbed into our very first demolition derby at the Oro World’s Fair. We had no idea if it would be the first of many… or the last. 😅

One thing I did know was that I wanted those memories captured forever, so I asked the incredibly talented Amanda Black photography to come photograph the day. Looking back now, I’m so thankful I did. Those photos remind me exactly where this incredible journey began.

If love had a face, it might just look like Taco. 🐾❤️

Meet Taco.

A little dog with the biggest personality.

This session wasn’t just about taking beautiful photos—it was about celebrating a family member who brings so much joy every single day. From proudly showing off his favorite toy, to stealing kisses, to soaking up every moment with his people, Taco reminded me that the smallest paws often leave the biggest impact.

With a few quick breaks for some well-earned kibbles (because every model deserves snacks 😉), Taco was an absolute gem. He soaked up the attention, flashed his sweet personality, and reminded us all that the best moments are often the simplest ones.

The best photographs aren’t just about perfect smiles or poses. They’re about preserving personalities, the little quirks, the unconditional love, and the moments that make a family uniquely theirs.

Because our pets aren’t “just dogs.” They’re our adventure buddies, our comfort on hard days, our biggest cheerleaders, and some of our most loyal friends.

Those sweet little baby hands… the tiniest little feet… the soft scrunches, sleepy stretches, sweet smiles, and curious little side-eyes. 💙 Every tiny detail tells the story of a brand-new life, and every little expression is a reminder that this season is gone in the blink of an eye.

One day those tiny fingers will reach for yours a little less, those little feet will be running instead of curling up in your arms, and these moments will become treasured memories. That is why I love what I do—capturing the little things that are so easy to forget but impossible to replace. These photographs become a way to hold onto this chapter forever. 🥹👣📸

Some bridal showers are sweet… and then there are bridal showers like Kerrah’s. 💍🤍

First of all… it was HOT. Like, “pray your makeup survives” kind of hot. ☀️😂 But somehow this amazing group still showed up looking absolutely stunning and ready to celebrate!

The biggest surprise of the day? The groom-to-be stopped by with the most beautiful bouquet of flowers and a heartfelt letter that had everyone smiling (and maybe holding back a few happy tears). It was such a sweet reminder of the incredible love these two share. 🌸💌

While we were taking the group photos, something truly unexpected happened—a dragonfly landed right on Kerrah’s bouquet. If you believe dragonflies are a sign that a loved one is near, it felt like such a beautiful little reminder that someone special was there celebrating alongside everyone else. ❤️🪽

Now let’s talk about this crew… what an absolute blast! The bridal party, family, and friends brought the laughs, the sass, and enough personality to keep everyone entertained all afternoon. The love, support, and joy in the room were impossible to miss.

Every little detail was beautifully thought out, and it was so clear how deeply loved Kerrah is. It was an honour to capture these memories and celebrate such a special chapter with all of you.

Congratulations, Kerrah! Wishing you and your fiancé a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and just the right amount of sass. 🤍✨

F A M I L Y . Change is hard, and it’s never easy to navigate.

Life doesn’t always go as planned. Families change, relationships grow, and sometimes we find ourselves writing chapters we never expected.

Blending a family isn’t always easy, especially when adult children, new relationships, and old memories all come together. Someone who once felt like an outsider can become a source of love, laughter, and strength—not to replace anyone, but to help carry the family forward.

Moving forward doesn’t mean forgetting. It means making room for new memories while keeping those we’ve lost close to our hearts. A father gone too soon and a husband taken unexpectedly will always be part of this family’s story.

This session was a beautiful reminder that love doesn’t end with loss. It simply grows in new ways. Thank you for trusting me to capture this chapter of your family’s journey. ❤️

A little behind the scenes. 💕

Usually I’m the one behind the camera, so it’s always special when someone captures me doing what I love.

Thank you to one of my longtime friends for snapping this while I was capturing her beautiful children. Moments like these remind me just how much I love preserving memories for the families who trust me with them. 📸❤️

As I edit these photos, I can’t help but reflect. ❤️

I’ve known this not-so-little girl for as long as I can remember. As most of you know, demolition derbies are a huge part of my life, and she’s always been one of my littles that I’d look for at every event.

Getting the honour of capturing her Grade 8 graduation photos truly pulled at my heartstrings. Dorothy, you have raised such a beautiful young lady, and I know her future is so bright.

Thank you for inviting me to be a part of such an important milestone in her life. It was truly an honour to capture these memories. ❤️✨

💕 A&G, here is your sneak peek! 💕

Some engagement sessions are a little more bittersweet when they’re for people who feel more like family than clients. ❤️

It was such an honour to capture this special milestone for these two. While I wasn’t there for the proposal, I was beyond excited when I heard the news. They travelled 3 hours so we could make these engagement photos happen, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Dark clouds, rumbling thunder, and a weather forecast that had us wondering if we’d even make it through the session greeted us from the very beginning. But A&G showed up ready to embrace whatever Mother Nature had in store.

And honestly? The storm made it even more memorable.

From dodging raindrops to laughing through the chaos, these two never stopped smiling. Sometimes the best photos come from the most unexpected conditions, and this session was proof of that.
