This past weekend we made our way over to Malden Park to catch some photos of the Zulu Challenge k9 run.

What a fun morning watching so many incredible teams work through the obstacles!

NOVA SCOTIA!!!! I’M COMING HOME!

…kind of. 🤣

I’ll be back in Nova Scotia from October 1–12, and while I’m there I’m hoping to squeeze in a few days of fall portrait sessions!

Right now I’m looking at October 4–8, but before I start planning exact dates and locations, I want to know who’s interested and where everyone is!

I know I have people scattered all over the province, so instead of deciding where I’ll be first and making you come to me, I’m going to see where the interest takes me. ❤️

Fall Portrait Sessions will be $375. They include up to 2 dogs from the same household and 10 fully edited high-resolution digital images. Additional dogs can absolutely be added for an additional fee.

I’m planning for approximately 2–3 sessions per day, so spaces will be limited once I start putting the final schedule together.

For now, this is just an expression of interest. There’s no commitment or deposit required! Once I see where everyone is, I’ll figure out my route, choose locations, and start reaching out to confirm actual bookings.

THEY'RE FINALLY HERE!!!!!

After more than a year and a half of planning, photographing, editing, designing, proofing, waiting... and then waiting a little longer thanks to an unexpected production delay...

The Great Big Book of Windsor & Essex County Dogs is officially here. ❤️

There is something incredibly surreal about opening those boxes and seeing an idea that started so long ago finally sitting there as an actual, finished book.

28 dogs.
Locations throughout Windsor & Essex County.
Nearly 100 pages celebrating the dogs we love and the place we call home.
And, most importantly, a project that raised money for Second Chance Animal Rescue.

I am so incredibly grateful to every single person who trusted me to photograph their dog, purchased a book, shared the project, followed along, and helped bring this one to life.

And after the little printing adventure we've had over the last few weeks, I can VERY happily say...

THE BOOKS ARE ACTUALLY HERE. 😂

After almost 5 months of keeping this one under wraps, I can finally share it. ❤️

Earlier this year I had this image in my head of Tango standing alone in the darkness, with just the glow of a lantern around him. The idea was pretty simple. Even when things feel dark, there’s always a little bit of light to help you find your way through.

This is one of the images I entered into the International Pet Photography Awards this year, which is always a very nerve wracking process.

What happens if they don’t like it? Is there a flaw I missed during editing? Will it finally help me achieve my goal of a Gold level award? What if it doesn’t resonate with the judges at all?

I’ll admit, I had hoped to finally break into that next level with my competition work this year, so I’ve had some disappointment mixed in with these results. But I’m also trying to remind myself not to let the goal I didn’t reach take away from the things that are still worth celebrating.

More than 4,200 images were submitted from photographers around the world this year, and the judges connected with this little story of Tango and his lantern enough to award it a Silver.

I’m not usually one to share this side of what goes through my head when I submit my work to competitions, but maybe that’s all the more reason to share it this time. ❤️

So after 5 months of keeping it hidden, here it finally is. 🥰

🐾 BOOK UPDATE! 📚

A quick update for everyone waiting for their copy of The Great Big Book of Windsor & Essex County Dogs, just in case you missed my email last night!

Unfortunately, I heard back from the printer and there was a production issue with the final order that requires the books to be remade. The new estimated shipping date is August 21, with the books expected to arrive around August 24–25.

Because of the extended delay, both of our previously scheduled pickup dates are being postponed.

Rather than choosing another date while the books are still in production, I’m going to wait until those boxes are physically in my hands this time! 😅 As soon as they arrive, I’ll reach out to everyone who ordered a copy and start arranging new pickup and delivery dates.

I’m so sorry for the additional wait. After finally getting to hold the test copy, I am probably every bit as anxious as you are to see the rest of these books arrive and get them into your hands! ❤️

Last week I was in Montreal and put out a model call for some urban portraits, and little Winston’s owner reached out.

This adorable little Frenchie/Boston Terrier mix is tiny in size but MASSIVE in personality, and he was such an amazing little dog to photograph!!! 🥰

This is the first image I completed from his little session, and I love how wild the size difference is between him and the gigantic marble building!! ❤️

Thanks Melissa for bringing Winston for some images. I can’t wait for you to see them all finished 😍

There are moments that remind you exactly why all the late nights, planning, editing, and endless little details are worth it.

Today was one of those moments. ❤️

After more than a year and a half of photographing dogs from across Windsor & Essex County, designing layouts, writing stories, proofing pages (more than once 😅), and watching this project slowly come together…

I finally got to hold The Great Big Book of Windsor & Essex County Dogs in my hands.

It’s honestly hard to describe the feeling of seeing something that has existed on a computer screen for so many months become a real, hardcover book.

Knowing that every page celebrates a local dog, showcases another beautiful corner of Windsor & Essex County, and helps give back to rescue work makes it even more meaningful.

The final shipment is now on its way from the printer, and I can’t wait for those boxes to arrive.

To every family who trusted me with your dog, and to everyone who pre-ordered a copy… thank you. You helped bring this book to life.

I cannot wait for you to hold it in your hands too. 🥰

Resharing again in hopes of connecting with some Montreal dogs this week 🥰

Hey guys!

I’ll be in Montreal this week and have some availability the evenings of August 4–6, so I’m looking for a handful of wonderful pups to photograph while I’m in town!

I’ll be exploring some of Montreal’s beautiful architecture and creating a series of cinematic urban portraits, and I’d love to feature a few local dogs.

I’m looking for all breeds, all sizes, and all ages! Once applications are in, I’ll pair each dog with the location that I think best suits their look and personality.

Potential locations include:
📍 Boul. René-Lévesque area near Fairmont Queen Elizabeth
📍 Old Montreal near Notre-Dame Basilica
📍 Redpath Museum & McGill campus stone buildings

For more than two years, I’ve been quietly working behind the scenes on something that has completely captured my heart.

Countless hours of planning, redesigning, refining, and dreaming have all led to this moment.

And today, I am incredibly excited to officially announce that The Legacy Collective is finally live. ❤️

Along with it comes a completely redesigned website and a new chapter for Born 2 Run Photography.

Over the years, I’ve realized that my favourite photographs were never simply the “perfect portraits.” They were the images that felt like memories.

The favourite walking trail.
The muddy paws after an adventure.
The look they give you when you call their name.

Because when I think about the dogs who have shaped my own life, I don’t think about photographs.

I remember their stories. The ones that made me laugh, shake my head, or made my heart smile.

And that’s where The Legacy Collective was born.

This new experience is centered around creating meaningful memories and preserving them through artwork that can be seen, loved, and remembered every day.
