Some sessions take a little longer to unfold... and honestly? Those are often my favourite ones.
In August 2024, I spent an afternoon with Hilary’s family at their stunning country farmhouse in PEI. Canola fields as far as you could see, that rich ochre earth, a long winding driveway lined with old trees. The kind of place that feels like it has stories in the walls.
But at the start... the kids weren’t so sure about the whole thing. Fair enough, honestly.
So we slowed down. We let them lead. And while they warmed up, I got to photograph mom and dad doing what good parents do... kneeling down, listening, being present. Those quiet in-between moments that nobody thinks to document? That’s where the gold is.
Then the kids took us straight to their favourite spot. A big old tire swing hanging from one of those iconic trees lining the driveway. And just like that, the walls came down. Mom climbed on that swing with her daughter and the two of them laughed so hard, swinging together under that tree, that I could barely keep the camera still.
Those are the frames I live for.
Here’s the thing about Day in the Life sessions... they’re different from a traditional family session in the best way. A family session is a gorgeous snapshot of right now. A Day in the Life is the full story... every messy, magical, real page of it.
Half day or full day together, following your actual life. The kids might not want to be in the frame sometimes. The outfits might not be perfectly coordinated. But what you get is a true, honest glimpse of your family exactly as they are right now, before this season slips away.
And it will. Faster than you think.
Day in the Life sessions are booking now for Burlington, Oakville, and Hamilton families. DM me or hit the link in bio to get started.
And to the mom who hasn’t booked yet because she’s worried her kid won’t cooperate... Hilary’s kids weren’t so sure about me either. But look at the magic we made!
