ventured out to pipers spit today and was surprised by the sandhill cranes who’ve returned! additionally, there were many, many swallows and some rufous hummingbirds too it was nice to see back! species listed on photos.

ocean camping trip ft. from last weekend! fun trip and tons of birds! didn’t see the swan family i was looking for but did see a pair in their usual spot. the surf scoters were playing in the waves alll weekend! i also saw a loon chase some away which was neat.

in the hour before catching the ferry i saw the white wagtail! photos aren’t the best as we were in a bit of a rush but still so cool to see! Also got some shots of a canvasback on cranberry lake it’s been a very long time since i’ve last seen one in the wild! i feel two cool bird sightings make up for the lack of swans lol last few photos are from burnaby lake.

photos from when we were in qathet, the loons were really cool, they swam across the lake when they saw me and got really close, i think they might be younger ones? i also saw a spotted sandpiper who flew infront of me while kayaking and an osprey in her nest

but these are from last week, i finally got sandhill crane pictures!! i also saw the snow geese, cackling geese, and greater white fronted geese too this week. so hype ‼️

SOOOO many birds at burnaby lake this past week, first time seeing Long-billed Dowitchers too! there had to be at least a hundred of them. also tons of wood ducks, green winged teals, mallards, northern pintails, and even a couple northern shovelers! if you look really closely there’s a killdeer in there too! if i forgot a bird id i’m sorry 😭
