Light Dancers

This image entered under Experimental / Unclassified class took home a unanimous “Excellence”

It had been a personal goal of mine to have all 5 judges score my image an excellence and I am thrilled with this one. Grateful to PPOC and all my mentors in this awesome association - Thank You

Dancing Up A Storm

Four out of the five judges gave this image a score of “Excellence”

I absolutely love photographing the art of dance! There’s something mesmerising about the passion, energy, and the dedication that young dancers bring to every performance. Sometimes, it feels like their dance has the power to move heaven and earth! 💃✨

A Walk To Remember

I had to really kick myself for this one. It almost received a score of excellence when one of the judges noticed and pointed out one small sensor dust spot that I had missed. This brought it down to a merit. Still none the less it has been shortlisted as one of the images that is vying for the Best in Class under Pictorial / Floral

Photographed in Ladakh, India, the rare double-humped Bactrian camel! 🐪🏔️. These unique camels, are a living link to the ancient Silk Route, where they were once used to transport goods across harsh desert landscapes. Unlike their single-humped cousins, Bactrian camels are perfectly adapted to Ladakh’s extreme climate, with thick fur for the freezing winters and the ability to survive for long periods without water.

The tiger is a very special wild cat. It is so majestic and walks like royalty. If you have never seen one in the wild, it is unforgettable. Goosebumps is an understatement

2024 BC Image Salon

Last week the BC region of the Professional Photographers of Canada held their Gala and Awards Ceremony in Kelowna, where the results of the BC Region Image Competition were announced.

Judging is done by 5 qualified judges presided by a chair. Scores awarded are “Excellence”, “Merit”, “Accepted” and “Not Accepted”

I am honoured and trilled to announce that I had 4 submissions
* under classes of Fine art, Animals, Editorial and Architecture
* 3 received a score of “Excellence” and 1 of “Merit”.
* All 4 images were judged Best in their respective class
* Plus my Fine art image (Dancing up a Storm) was selected as Judges Choice by Jury Chair Kent Wong as well as Judge Cindy Hains
* I was also announced as the BC Photographer Of the Year

There was tough competition this year with 14 very talented photographers vying for the POY. I had to pinch myself when my name was announced. I thank all fellow photographers of PPOC for all the encouragement and support they offer to help me grow.

I am not putting the images on social media as some of them would be entered for the Nationals but if you are curious to see the images, I will add a link in the comments.

Recently I have started a YouTube channel - a place where I will be sharing editing, post processing and how to videos along with information about photography tours to experience the beauty that India has to offer.

I have just uploaded a video where I walk through my editing process where I take a raw landscape image and process it using Lightroom & Photoshop. I would like to invite you to watch the video and subscribe to the channel (Will add the link in the comments)

The stunning landscape of Central India falls in some of the major fly paths for birds from Asia, Australia & Africa and a few more within the subcontinent. Of the 450 species that live or pass through this area - here are some that I managed to observe and photograph from the comfortable hide at Waghoba Eco-Lodge, a wildlife resort in Tadoba

I have always had a thing for doors. Not just any doors but those with come character. Generally doors that have seem some age. Doors stand guard between the private and the public. If they could talk could tell quite a few stories. When I pass an interesting door, it call me to photograph it.

Ladakh has so many interesting doors. I photographed over 40 in just a couple of days. Here are a few.

Which one is YOUR favourite?

Rediscovering India - Such a fascinating land!

Way up in the north, nestled between three countries - China, Tibet and Pakistan is a landscape photographers’s dream come true - Ladakh! The word Ladakh literally means “The Land of High Passes”. The city of Leh was a very important hub on the old silk trade route and today is the main route connecting this remote land with the rest of the world.

It’s a land with stark landscapes and ancient cultures - where the prayer flags fly high and clouds touch the grounds.

Here are a few images - will post more as I process them
