Bridge Studios The Bridge Studios, the first dedicated studio facility in Vancouver, opened for business in 1987. Ample three-phase power is provided to all stages. 75,000 sq.

The Bridge Studios is home to one of the largest effects stages in North America. With clear span area of one acre and height of 50' to the bottom of the truss system, it can accommodate large sets and challenging effects sequences. The six Sound Stages have extensive acoustical treatment and perform to industry standards. ft. of wardrobe prop and shop space available in auxiliary buildings. All s

tages are heated. The Bridge provides 24-hour gate security with access by pass or authorization only. Equipment and services are contracted directly by production. There are no commissions or studio administration fees charged.

Bridge Studios is slated to build 42 new sound stages over the next four years in the city of Burnaby, British Columbia, directly neighboring Vancouver. This new construction will bring the total number of sound stages operated by Bridge Studios to 55.

We are proud to announce an historic agreement in which the City of Burnaby will sell a parcel of land to Larco Investments Ltd., parent company of Bridge Studios, to develop a state-of-the-art 300,000-square-foot film studio at 3990 Marine Way. This sale is to deliver up to 1,000 new jobs as part of a major film studio project.

One year ago today we said goodbye to the Old John Thomas FX Stage and started construction on 3 new stages and 50,000 sq. ft. of office and Support space. The rainy Vancouver season last winter slowed the project slightly; however, we look forward to having the new facilities completed by October!

New Construction - Stage 11/12/13!

The Bridge Studios is well on their way to completing Phase 2 of our site developments 5 phase plan. While we are all sad to see the John Thomas Special Effects Stage being demolished, we are excited about having 3 brand new 17,000 sq. ft. each soundproof, air conditioned, 50 foot tall Sound Stages, complete with 50,000 sq. ft. of new Costumes, Set Dec and offices scheduled for completion August 2018. One of the three new Stages #11, #12, or #13 will be rededicated in John Thomas’ name.

FX Stage Demolition

The FX stage originally was the site that the 2nd narrows Bridge was pre-fabricated. Even parts of the Golden Gate Bridge and Lions Gate Bridge were built in the building. In the 1980’s when movie making in Vancouver started taking off, movies like First Blood, Bird On a Wire, and Jumanji were filmed inside. Many other TV shows like Stargate Atlantis (5 seasons) and literally dozens and dozens of productions in between. Lately the FX Stage hosted Elysium, Star Trek, Tomorrowland and lastly, Lost In Space that wrapped on June 30th.

Further, the Old Main St. Offices also hosted many, many productions from The Outer Limits, including over 500 hours of TV for MGM, and Technicolor’s Burnaby Post production office to lastly... Love It Or List It Vancouver.

While it’s fun reminiscing about all that the buildings been known for, It’s exciting to think about how many new productions and jobs will be created in the future.
