Last grad season didn’t always give us perfect conditions.

There were evenings when wind, smoke, and sudden weather shifts could have easily ended a session early.

But those moments often created the most unique images.

Not because everything went perfectly —
but because everyone stayed flexible and took the chance to work with what was in front of us.

It also taught us that some of the best photos come from the unexpected.

Some of my favorite sessions have happened on a dirt road, near a riding stable, and in the quiet corner of a coffee shop.

Hey Calgary Grads - quick heads up about what I am seeing as a grad photographer this year.

Clients interested in booking their spring grad session are reaching out earlier than ever. Maybe it’s because 1st false spring is in the air, but the class of 2026 is on it.

Clients who signed up for our early access waitlist were sent our calendar yesterday and we will be opening up access to everyone on Feb 18th.

This post isn’t meant to add stress, it’s just our friendly reminder to move booking grad photos from your “to-do list” to your “done list.”

Before we left on vacation last week I created a soul giving photography assignment for myself as a way to capture and enjoy the beauty of the California desert.

Each day I had prompts for inspiration, and limited myself to 45-60 mins and 1 lens.

And after talking about it for over a year, we finally captured some updated family photos. One perk to travelling with 3 photographers. 😉

When my daughter turned 14, she wanted to celebrate her connections and creativity — so she asked for a photoshoot with her four best friends.

What started with a few 𝘵𝘦𝘹𝘵𝘴, led us to this 𝘶𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘱𝘰𝘵 by the Calgary train tracks, and before long, were in full 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘰𝘥𝘦.

Every photoshoot I do follows the same 3 steps:

𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞.

Because the best photos come from a mix of story, structure, and a little bit of glam.

That’s how these little guys greeted me — and from there it was nothing but giggles, snacks, and the sweetest hour together. Their mom came so prepared, and it made everything feel relaxed and fun (you’ll see it in every photo).

Three years after our first session together, and these two grandparents are still setting the standard for what intentional family life looks like.

Grant and Anne show up for their grandkids in the most genuine ways — laughter, connection, and time together.

When I asked them to hold hands, Grant smiled and said, “We really do hold hands.” 💕

Aiden called them “couple goals,” and honestly, I couldn’t agree more.

So grateful to capture a family that loves this deeply — and to be invited back to document it again. 🤍

Over the last year, Aiden has been quietly filming alongside our weddings. What started as him experimenting has become this creative passion—he took pieces from one of our trips and turned it into this film.

Watching him create is watching a new layer of storytelling unfold—and we are excited to share it here.
