On Earth Day 2026 I am proud to share the launch of this Nature Positive paper featuring 11 co-authors from around the world including my good friend, mentor and fellow Nikon photographer Harvey Locke. I am proud to have done some short films featuring Harvey to help shine more light on this wonderful Nature Positive movement.

Earth Day 2025 🌎 🌱

I was photographing this high altitude lake in Ladakh India and this woman ran into the brilliant blue water in her red Sari. I could see the joy she had in that moment and I was happy to have photographed her connection with nature.

Big Wave Windsurfing 🌊🇨🇦

I feel honoured to have had this windsurfing image on Team Canada in the Sports category this year, representing Canada at the World Photographic Cup.

Windsurfing has been a passion of mine ever since my Dad bought me my first windsurfer at 13 years old. I grew up on Lake Erie and we would go out windsurfing together all the time. Extreme sports photography is of course my other passion. When you can photograph the sports you love and play, it can give you insights that help you anticipate the action. I love the perfect body position, light on his face with movement in his hair and the sunlight coming through the sail and projecting colours on the water as the s-trail wake shows his path and speed.

Happy Halloween - Spookey Owl 🎃

I photographed this beautiful Jungle Owlet in Bhutan earlier this year. These bright yellow eyes and stripes in the cool late evening tones and textures gave the moment some eerie vibes.

Colourful Layers of Banff in Autumn 🍂

I look forward to photographing the amazing fall colours in Banff every year! This evening gave me some electric light, calm waters, beautiful tones and some trees at their peak of colour.

I will be leading a Nikon Photo Walk at the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival this year on Saturday Nov. 2nd from 8am -10:30am. This is a FREE EVENT, if you can make it out and would like to join us. You can register at https://kristianbogner.com/nikonphotowalk

We will have an informal riverside walk to Bow Falls and then photograph the falls together in various locations. Aurora over Vermillion Lakes✨🇨🇦

We had some absolutely magical Northern Lights last month!!! Some of the best I have ever witnessed and photographed. I captured this one at Vermillion Lakes in Banff. I thought with Canada Day weekend upon us I would share some Fireworks in the Night Sky!!! Cheers everyone!

Eclipse 2024 - Canmore, AB ☀️🌑

Was fun to shoot the eclipse today. We had mostly clear skies but only 40% partial eclipse compared to some of the amazing images taken on the path of totality. I build a custom filter for my 800mm and this was one of my favourites at its peak from my location.

Dad the Eagle is back! 🦅

I came across this majestic Eagle other day on my walk. I haven’t seen him since last year but he let me slowly approach and get some wonderful shots as the light went behind the mountains.

World Photographic Cup - Team Canada

Here is my image “Kai Lenny over JAWS” that made Team Canada , part of 24 photographers that will represent our country at the World Photographic Cup to compete against 34 other countries worldwide. Tonight the top 10 in each category will be announced.

This image holds a lot of energy for me. It represents the epidemy of trusting my gut, a bit of luck, and technically nailing the shot at 500mm. It takes the perfect mix of conditions to make the “Jaws” break surfable, usually only happening 5 – 8 days a year. I was there on one of those days and was able to capture world renowned surfer Kai Lenny pulling a grab while launching off this gigantic wave. He only did one jump that day and this was it!

I am honoured to be part of Team Canada, representing our country at the World Photographic Cup. Photographing the peak energy of a moment is my passion, so I am thrilled that the WPC has added a new Sports category to this exciting world level, team competition. The experience of being at the World Photographic Cup feels like you are representing your country at the Olympics of Photography and I am so happy to be part of Team Canada again this year!
