Stopped to catch my breath and felt like someone - or something - was watching me. Turns out, this pile of snow was silently judging my cardio level. I see Popeye wearing a big fluffy old fashioned cossack hat. Who do you see?

There's something really special about capturing the city at dawn. At 5:50 am, everything feels so calm and still. Looking east down Richmond Road, the Calgary Tower stands in the gentle morning light. Turning the other way, you see the Rocky Mountains and Mt. Glasgow, lit by the rising sun.

Using a telephoto lens, I can compress the distance between objects, making distant landmarks like the Rockies appear closer. This technique brings an interesting perspective, showing the connection between the city and the mountains.

Early mornings like this remind us of the simple beauty and calm they offer. 🌄✨

Rising with the sun on the summer solstice to get shots like this is unbeatable. The city is still asleep in the early light, and it's amazing to have those quiet moments before everyone else gets their day started. Here's to early mornings and the quiet they bring. 🌞📸

I spotted this Hoary Marmot just off of forestry trunk road, showing off that classic 'hoary' look—frosted fur that blends perfectly with the rocky terrain. It's always a treat to catch these critters in their element. ⛰️

It's Sunday February 11th and everyone is suddenly really excited about the Superb-owl. No idea why, but I'll hop on this trend and share my favorite owl shot.

Anyway, I heard there's a big Taylor Swift thing happening on TV later today. I'll definitely be watching - I wonder "who" else is going to tune in?

So... partridges live in inner city Calgary. I had no idea! Grey partridge to be exact. They're not native to North America. It was introduced from Europe for hunting, and has since established invasive populations here. I've also just heard that they apparently go great with roasted veggies and red wine 😅🍗🥗🍷

Just yesterday I said that winter isn't a season known for natural vibrant colours, but if you really look it's possible to find. I'm 55% confident that this is fireweed...? If I'm wrong and you happen to know what kind of plant this is please tell me. The bright red leaves really stand out on the cool white and frozen river bank. Fun fact about fireweed: it's one of the first plants to grow and bloom after a forest fire, which is how it got its fiery name.

Winter isn't known for having very much natural colour, but what it lacks in vibrancy, it more than makes up for in texture and tone. Winter simplifies the landscape, reducing it to form and shadow. The ripples of aspen shadows across the snow show a complex texture that colour can't capture.

There's a weird haze to the air in YYC right now. The air quality isn't great, but it makes for some interesting views - it's casting an unusual haze across the cityscape. It creates a distinct, almost muted, visual effect on the usual views.
