I make my home in Calgary, Alberta but I tend to have a bit of wanderlust and travel to a lot of wonderful and beautiful places, particularly in the Canadian Rockies. I have a tendency to get lost in projects and to get lost in moments. I have dreams of building a tiny, net-zero home on a plot of land somewhere between the mountains and Calgary. I'm currently retro-fitting a minivan so that I can
sleep and photograph out of it and I'm a bit of a sports fanatic. I'm also an avid climber, hiker, and explorer and feel a bit odd if I don't have a backpack weighing down my shoulders. That's a bit about my life, but I suppose you would like to know about my work. I wasn't born with a camera in my hands, in fact I didn't find photography until my journalism school threw a camera at me. Even then, my love for photography wasn't instant. It began as a slow burn, something that developed the more time I spent with one eye in a viewfinder and one on whatever sport I was photographing. But today, today it has grown into a love story. A story where I rarely set foot outside the house without that camera on my back. It goes everywhere with me, it has become my tool for interpreting what I see in front of me. For interpreting the way light plays off of a mountain top or dances in someone’s eyes. For interpreting that golden hour glow and that fire side gleam and that subtle aurora. It is light that inspires me, light that brings the fire to my eyes and distracts me from all else in the world. It is the way light plays with the world around it, the way it reflects and brings out hidden details. It is with my camera that I capture the light, that I capture that moment of human imperfection. If you are in the Calgary area, shout really loud. I may hear you, and should that fail get a hold of me here, on Facebook, or on Instagram. Obviously, I'm happy to chat about work, possible project collaborations, and speciality prints you would like made. Or if you just want to say 'hi', go for it. I hope to meet you at some point and thanks for stopping by.
