Hi friends,

I hope you’re all doing well. I wanted to pop in and thank you from the bottom of my heart for the incredible outpouring of love, kindness, and support you’ve shown me during the darkest time of my life. Your messages, prayers, and generous donations to my GoFundMe have brought me comfort and helped ease some of the financial burdens I’ve been facing. I am deeply grateful.

Over the years, my page has become so much more than a wildlife photography page. We’ve built a truly caring community. Your compassion has reminded me that even in the midst of heartbreak, there is still so much kindness in the world.

Rob’s passing was sudden and completely unexpected, and I’m still trying to adjust to this new reality. His Celebration of Life is this weekend, and I’ve been busy preparing to honour the wonderful man he was. After that, I’ll be packing up my home and beginning the difficult process of finding a new place to live.

Life has been overwhelming, so I haven’t had much time for Facebook or photography. I miss being out in nature with my camera, and I look forward to the day when I can share those moments with all of you again. Until then, I’ll continue to pop in whenever I can.

Thank you for walking this journey with me. Your kindness has meant more than words can ever express. 💕

In the meantime, take good care of yourselves.

With heartfelt gratitude, 🙏
Lisa

Hi friends,

It’s been quite a while since I’ve checked in. To be honest, Facebook has been the last thing on my mind, but I wanted to thank you all for your kind messages, love, and support during this incredibly difficult time.

For those who may not know, I unexpectedly lost my beloved spouse, Rob, on June 9. Since then, I’ve been trying to make sense of an unimaginable loss while also dealing with the many responsibilities that come with it. Some days are harder than others, and it’s been a lot to carry.

I also want to sincerely thank everyone who donated to my GoFundMe. Your generosity and compassion have touched me more than words can express. Your support has helped ease the burden of the many unexpected expenses I’ve been facing, and I am deeply grateful.

Just a few days ago, I received more heartbreaking news. My beloved cat, Jazzy, has a large mass near his heart that cannot be treated. Knowing that I’ll soon have to say goodbye to him as well has been devastating. 😢

Many of you know how much I love photography. Right now, though, I simply don’t know when I’ll be able to get back out with my camera. It may be a long while. Until then, I’ll check in when I can and occasionally share some favourite photos from the past.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your kindness, your prayers, and your support. They have meant more to me than you’ll ever know. ❤️

Take care,

Lisa

I came across this update today regarding the little Great Gray Owl and his/ her mother who my spouse Rob and I rescued a few days before he passed away. I had been meaning to follow up on these two to find out how they were doing, but considering the unexpected loss of Rob, I have had many other things to deal with. This happy update is definitely a bright light in the darkness. 🩶

Hi friends,

I’m sorry I haven’t checked in for a while. Life has been incredibly busy since my spouse passed away. There are so many things to take care of, and it’s been challenging to manage everything while grieving his loss. I also have to downsize and find a more affordable place to live, so I still have a long road ahead.

I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your messages, kind words, and support. Your donations to my GoFundMe has moved me to tears. The kindness and generosity shown by people, many of whom I’ve never even met, has restored my faith in humanity. 🤍

I want you to know that a portion of the funds will go toward Rob’s final expenses, which have been significant. I will also face costs associated with my upcoming move. Without your support, I honestly don’t know what I would do. Thank you for helping to lighten this burden during one of the most difficult times of my life. 🙏

As I don’t know when I’ll be able to get out and do photography again, I wanted to share one of my favourite throwback images of a beautiful Short-eared Owl in snowfall.

Take care, friends, and thank you again for being here for me. It means more than words can say. ♥️

Hi friends,

I want to thank you for checking in on me, for your messages of support, and for your generous donations to help with expenses following the unexpected loss of my partner, Rob.

It has been difficult for me to function, let alone keep up with this page. I have so much to take care of right now, all while grieving a profound loss. It has been incredibly difficult.

When I need words of encouragement, I visit this page and read the beautiful comments you’ve left. They bring me great comfort. Thank you, friends.

Rob and I rescued animals together for many years. We were united by a shared passion for making a positive difference in the world, however small that difference might be.

You may recall our last rescue, just a few days before he passed away: a precious Great Gray Owl baby left alone after its mother was struck by a vehicle. After many hours of effort, we were able to safely secure the baby and bring it to a wildlife rehabilitation centre.

I am happy to report that the mother survived the collision and is now recovering alongside her baby in the care of wildlife rehabilitators. 🩶

I will do my best to check in here when I am able. Until then, please know how deeply grateful I am for the love, kindness, and support you have shown me during this difficult time.

I wanted to let you know that last night, my spouse Rob passed away. He was also a photographer, and was always with me on my travels and with my animal rescues. I am numb and in a state of shock with this unexpected loss, and will need to figure out how to move forward without him and how to survive on a fixed income.

My friend created this GoFundMe for me, as I am never one to ask for help. As she could not post directly to this page, she has asked me to do so for her. Please, there is no obligation to help financially, your lovely comments help me immensely. Thank you, friends. 🙏

Friends, I have been hesitant to share this with you, but I have always tried to be transparent, and over the years many of you have become like family to me.

Late yesterday afternoon, my spouse was rushed to the hospital and is now in critical condition on life support. Never did I imagine something like this would happen.

I humbly ask for your prayers as we hope and pray for his recovery.

As I navigate this difficult time, I hope you will understand that my time on this page may be limited for a while.

Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers.

It has been a very emotional day for me. A very difficult day. We went to photograph the Great Gray Owl and baby this morning, and witnessed the mother get struck by a car. She was tossed into the ditch where she lay motionless, her body contorted. 😢 One of the witnesses bundled her up and took her for help, and I stayed behind and made it my mission to rescue her baby, it was too young to survive on its own. After looking for the baby for an hour, I finally found her hidden far back in the trees on private property. I located the landowner and got permission to rescue the owl, but she was too high up in the tree for me to climb. I decided to call a few arborists for help. Most wouldn’t assist me, but one wonderful guy did. I arranged for a wildlife rescue to accept her if we caught her, and after a long while, we did! 🙌 So, our entire day was spent rescuing an owl. I sure didn’t have that on my bingo card. 🥴

📌 Stay tuned for more updates.

The wait is over... and here is my big surprise!🦉 💝

For nearly 8 years, I've dreamed of seeing and photographing a baby Great Gray Owl. Yesterday, while photographing an adult owl, I heard a persistent screech coming from a nearby stand of trees. When I went to investigate, I was amazed to find this little owlet perched on a branch.

I couldn't believe my eyes! 👀

Some surprises are worth waiting years for, and this was definitely one of them. 🩶 🙌 👏
