Vikki - The Bodacious (1/3)

This shoot was in early June but I still remember killing it in front of the camera. Excited to post more of our work in the coming days. I've had two shoots since this one and her confidence and comfortability is genuinely encouraging to me as a photographer. So glad I got to meet this wonderful human 😊
Took several hours to find the edit style that I was satisfied with but I'm so much better at editing now than I was 6 months ago. Progress is still progress ✌️

Ebony

A huge thank you to Canon Canada Socality House and The Camera Store for organizing the event. It was an overwhelming but nonetheless an interesting experience to meet so many photographers in one place! Looking forward to participating in many more of the like.

Ebony Jepson was such a pleasure to work with since she has an exceptionally strong understanding of pretty much everything that is needed from a model. Her confidence when stepping in front of the camera is charming to say the least. Looking forward to working with her again if and when our schedules line up.

P.S.
Editing is still challenging for me but I'm sticking to the quality over quantity mindset.

Editing this set was a breeze but the shoot was so much more relaxed, thanks to the lovely ray of sunshine Yanting Tang (instagram com/blank.whatever)
A few weeks ago, I thought I hit a wall with ideas and couldn't come with any concepts for shoots so I took a break. Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting Irene Rudnyk Photography (instagram.com/irenerudnykphoto) at one of the events organised by instagram.com/vistekcalgary , and had a quick chat with her on my predicament. After some words of advise from her, I decided to continue shooting regardless, the same way I drag myself to the gym even if I have zero wish to get off my butt. I just have to grab my gear, put on my shoes, and as soon as I am out of my apartment building, I'm focused and ready for some action.

Prior to this meeting, if I didn't have any ideas, I wouldn't bother at all but I'm trying to get more disciplined with my work and I'm sure it will do me wonders in the long run. So a special thanks to Irene Rudnyk (instagram.com/irenerudnykphoto) for her insights and encouragement. From pushing myself forward with shoots to pulling myself back every time I see a lens that I want to buy, the last few days have been amazing. Here's to a positive start to a positive humpday 🍻

Had to use my t7i for this shoot since I my a7iv was still at Sony's Toronto service center. I also forgot to bring my old phone that had all the inspo for this shoot so I had to wing it during the shoot.

In the end, this set with .whatever took me back to the basics and helped me realize that I can still shoot even with a beginner camera and lens, work with the model in chilly/windy conditions, and improvise poses and ideas on the fly. More to come this summer (:
