I have experienced COVID. Omicron is reported to be mild and only flu-like symptoms. However, I was not so lucky. Over 38 degrees of fever lasted for 3 days. At one point it went up to 38.8. I could not sleep because of the headache and sore throat. I felt hungry but I didn't have an energy to even think about cooking. Regardless, my throat was so sore while swallowing food and fluids, even water. I lost about 2 kg. Day 5, today, the fever is back to normal-ish and my brain is getting clear from the afternoon.
Today, I heard the number of hospitalizations due to Omicron is increasing and ICU admissions are doubled in Alberta. I, myself, underestimated Omicron, and I thought vaccination was just an option at this point. But I learned the lesson that it could cause a big impact on our health and the vaccines / booster shots can prevent such a "downtime" in our everyday lives.
