Recently, one of my photographs had the incredible honor of being published in the iconic Time Square. While this recognition is undoubtedly thrilling, what truly makes this photo special goes far beyond its publication. It's about the remarkable individuals who made it possible – Telara and Kolby.
My journey with Telara began when she was newly pregnant. We crossed paths in her charming coffee shop, where I would often find solace while editing and engaging in heartfelt conversations. As Telara's pregnancy progressed, we shared stories, dreams, and hopes for her growing family.
The day finally arrived when Telara brought her precious bundle of joy into the world – Kolby. Holding newborns has always been an emotional experience for me, but there was something extraordinary about cuddling Kolby that touched my soul in a profound way.
You see, Kolby has Down syndrome, and through his presence in my life, I have come to realize the immense strength and love that radiate from individuals with different abilities. His infectious smile and unwavering spirit remind us all that diversity is a beautiful tapestry woven into the fabric of our world.
Telara and Kolby have become passionate advocates for spreading awareness about Down Syndrome. Together, they inspire others to embrace diversity and celebrate every individual's unique journey.
As I reflect on this incredible experience captured in that photograph on Time Square’s grand display, I am reminded of how powerful connection can be – how two souls can forge an unbreakable bond through shared experiences and unwavering support.
I encourage each one of you to explore avenues where you can make a difference, whether big or small, in promoting inclusivity and understanding. Together, let us embrace diversity, celebrate the beauty of each individual's story, and create a world where everyone feels seen and valued.
