I made him pose for photos about 2 hours too long tonight. But it was wonderful sitting with the wind gently tossing blossoms atop our heads while the sun started ducking behind those beautiful fuchsia buds.

Calgary has many beautiful parks and it’s nice to discover quiet places to take your dog and just sit alone with the beauty of spring.

Unlike some of the popular spots with the passive aggressive people just doing it for the gram. (Well apparently this isn’t a great example as I also post a bunch of side eyed, whale eyed Stanley selfies).

It was the first snow fall, we had been walking along Nosehill park here in Calgary, on the second kilometer of five.

I felt a little nip on my bottom. What, the…? I look behind me and I just see a 12 pound puppy sitting and giving me these puppy dog eyes… “mom, I’m cold and smol and ready to be finished.” It might not have been the first time he figured out he was the boss, but it defines sticks out in my mind.

and so this guy deserves well the cheese… unabashedly begging for the cheddar. Reminding his aunty to pay the

How did you celebrate your dog today (rescued or otherwise)?

In a world of AI everything… I’m editing less. 🤖

Back in the day, I used to rely on editing way more. Ironically, the more AI takes over, the more I’ve intentionally pulled back.

I used to shoot thinking I’ll fix things later.

Now I focus on getting it right in camera and using editing to refine, not reinvent.

Because the truth is…

Good photos aren’t made in Photoshop. They’re finished there.

Be honest… what did you think took longer, shooting or editing?

Hi, I’m Aubri and I’m a Calgary based dog photographer showing you the dog photography editing process with a before and after photo edit. Follow me for more pet photography tips and dopamine.

My photos of Stanley on my phone are exactly what everyone else gets. Same angles, same “almost had it,” same not quite in focus photographs.

And I get it, I am you. Stanley does something unhinged and suddenly I’m fighting with Siri like it’s personal.

But your dog isn’t hard to photograph. You’re just in the moment, not observing it.

That’s the whole job. To see what you miss while you’re busy loving them.

I wrote about this in my latest blog → Link in Bio

In the meantime, is anyone else’s phone doing aggressive character analysis of your face upon opening? Because same.

The wise words of can be placed into so many different contexts, I suppose that’s why she was such an icon in this world.

Let’s celebrate this Earth like it’s the only one we have, today and every day.

(I wonder what wisdoms or hard truths she’d have for us in the Punch the monkey era).

Happy Earth day friends, go out and do good in the world, pick up that piece of trash, be kind to our animals, appreciate the abundance of what we are blessed with.

You’ve been sitting on the idea of getting professional photos done with your dog… YO I know you have because y’all have told me - mulitple times.

I am currently scrolling my disk drives as entries for awards season are starting to open and my brain is doing its thing. Spiralling. Questioning. Mean girl-ing me. The usual. So what better distraction than rolling around on the ground with your dog and making something fantastic.

And listen, your dog could be in the centre of the next awarded image. I am just saying. They have the looks. They have the personality. They have whatever it is that makes a judge stop scrolling, even if they don’t have the manners, because really who has time for manners?

For 2026 I revamped my collections and I am freaking excited about it.

Every collection now includes a set of digital files because I believe you should never have to choose between artwork and the photos for the gram.
Here is what that actually means for you:
🐾 Digital files in every collection, no matter which one you choose
🐾 Product credit towards printed artwork AND your digitals, not instead of them
🐾 The best value I have ever offered, full stop
You get the art on your walls and the photos in your camera roll. Both. Always.

Your dog is not going to be basic. Not on my watch.

Want the details? Comment COLLECTIONS below and I will send everything your way.

I have a PhD in talking myself out of my own best work.

Just a dusty old photography degree, my dog and I and a full spiral every spring when competition season shows up uninvited with its little clipboard and awards.

I’ve submited to the for the last two seasons. And every year without fail my brain stages a formal intervention. Suddenly every image I love is somehow not good enough. Suddenly I question every decision I’ve ever in my entire life.

My brain is dramatic and has a tendency of being wrong.

But here I am every year, voluntarily walking back into the discomfort because apparently that is where the good stuff lives.

Nobody told me growth would feel this much like a personal crisis.

New blog post is up. Link in bio. Commiseration corner is open. I have really good snacks and zero chill about competition season.
