Meet Pepper, an adorable cockapoo! 🐕

I had the honour of meeting and camping with Pepper over May long. He is the only fur child of the house, and he is loved and adored by his parents! He actually practices his tricks every day with his mom, necessary to continue to hone his talent 😉and definitely not because he gets treats every time. Pepper sat so nicely for me as I got his close-up. Luckily, we were near the trees, so he had his mom and dad in view the whole time. I love the contrast of his dark fur with the new leaves 😍

There’s so much peace that comes from the in between 😌

They might not make perfect images sometimes, but what your pet does during the minutes between shots is some of what truly defines them. Walking, waiting, watching, and finally settling down, the non-posed seconds where they are just being themselves! I try to be as patient and unconcerned as I can in order to get the candid photos that show your cat's true side.

Bean is a chill cat; he loves cuddles and is super curious. He might be confused about what I’m doing sometimes, but he’s always down to hang out!

I think the blanket matches his eyes amazingly! 😍💚

For this fun mini session, I wanted to experiment with a green blanket and a chair instead of the usual bed that I photograph Bean on. Cats are quite stoic creatures, and I wanted to see if I could get something new out of Bean if I changed up what we normally do! I think it worked out really well. It took a bit of encouragement, but we got some great shots of this handsome man 🫶🏻

Cats are curious creatures. I wouldn’t want to cause a stressful environment, but changing up something in their day-to-day makes them extremely curious about what’s going on!

Not only do I love hearing the story of how pets came into people’s lives, but I also love discovering the quiet roles they play in their families’ lives 🫶🏻

Pets add so much to our lives, being a companion and a supporter when things get tough. They’re not only our best friends, but they can be a routine enforcer, a sense of comfort, or even a bridge in social situations. No matter how they found their way into your life, I believe that it’s always for a reason. Whether you saved them or maybe they saved you ♥️

Bean gets the run of the house and, yes, that includes the coffee table as a lounge spot!

This was truly a happenstance moment that worked out so well! As I was relaxing, Bean wandered over, got on the coffee table, right in the golden hour, and posed so well! Almost like he knew exactly what he was doing! I love letting cats be themselves and guide me through the session rather than the other way around. Since they’re usually more aloof and independent, it takes a lot of patience to get those great pictures that cat photographers dream of 📸

The sun makes Bean’s fur look so orange and golden, a precious baby seemingly highlighted by the heavens. I’m sure his parents would agree that he’s an angel! (Most of the time) 😉 Bean’s mom loves the color of his fur in the final images; it really brings out his Bengal pattern and how they see him every day!

When I need a cat model? Bean. When I want to try something new? Bean. The answer always seems to be this handsome boy 🐈

Most cats are levelheaded and are professionals in indifference. Sometimes they need a little coaxing, but for the majority of my sessions, it’s best to be patient and photograph them in their favorite spots!

Sometimes the biggest hurdle to overcome for a cat session is the topic of inadequate lighting. Luckily, most cats love the sunlit spots, but other times, there’s not a great lighting area. During those times, I try to communicate before the photoshoot to determine if I need to bring any additional lighting. Fortunately for me, Bean's favorite place to hang out is on his parents' bed right in front of a big window! He loves looking at the birds flying through the skyscrapers and watching the busy downtown. Oh, to be a little cat on a bed all day 🐱💤

This is my simple go-to pose for couples 🖐🏼📸

An effortless way to add some connection and touch in photos is just a nice hand on the chest. Especially for those who don’t take pictures often or might feel a bit nervous during their session, I love this pose for its simplicity. It links the subjects, adding a sense of togetherness to the images. I’m assuming you like the people you’re posing with, so, hold them! Kiss them! Come together and have fun! 😁

Even in your everyday life, a straightforward hand on the chest of your loved one can elevate your photos outside your session. Take it from your photographer - literally, you can take the poses we do during our shoot and apply them to your own!

Sealed with a kiss 💋🐾

A family portrait truly turns iconic once you add your dog. Whether they’re an addition to a large household or it’s just you and your dog, I think a true family session includes every member!

Fun fact: This is actually a trick that Baloo knows. He knows how to give kisses, in exchange for treats of course, but I’m sure his real ones are a lot more wet! 😋It made for some great moments during the session to add some fun to the images. No matter what kind of kiss is happening, this is one of my favorite poses to do during a pet session. I love showcasing all the ways you adore your dog! 😍🐾

I always think back on my furry clients ♥️

Baloo did so well during his session, having lots of running around breaks in between his poses. My favorite memory of this session is how smart he was! Tilynn and I were trying all sorts of tricks in order to get the best images from Baloo, but as soon as we used one trick a few times, Baloo didn’t fall for it anymore. He caught on really quickly 😅 It made for a unique photoshoot, and he kept me on my toes!

I love meeting dogs like Baloo. Smart rescue pups that have found their forever person. Someone to cherish and who cherishes them right back! 😊
