So you just got engaged… Now what?🥂💍
As someone who recently got engaged myself, I understand how exciting and overwhelming it can all feel! Before doing anything else, take some time to soak it all in, just the two of you. Whether that’s a day or a month, take the time you need. I can’t emphasize this enough🫶🏻
There’s no perfect timeline to follow after getting engaged, because every couple is different, but here’s some gentle guidance if you’re not sure where to start. As always, take what you love, and leave what you don’t🤍🥰
Step 1: Create your Vision
What does your dream day look like? Does it look like an intimate backyard wedding, surrounded by your closest friends and family, a private elopement in the mountains, or a big celebration at a gorgeous venue? Once you create a vision that feels like you, everything else will fall into place.
Step 2: Create your Budget
Once you have your vision, it’s time to create a budget. It’s important to reflect on what’s most important to you and your partner. Some couples prioritize food and entertainment, while others prioritize venue and photography. Everyone’s numbers are going to look a bit different, and that’s okay!
Step 3: Find your Venue
Now it’s time to find your dream venue. Do your research, ask your questions, and book a tour, if you’re able to. It took me about a month to find and book my wedding venue, but for some it may take a week, and for others, it may take a few months. Don’t compare yourself and your timeline to others, the process looks different for everyone.
Step 4: Find your Vendors
It’s never too early to reach out to your vendors. The earlier you reach out, the better chance of them being available for your day. Choosing your vendors is kind of like dating. You want to find someone who you align with and someone you enjoy being around. It’s important to ask lots of questions, look at reviews, and book consultations.
I hope you find these steps helpful, and are excited to embark on your wedding planning journey! If along the way, things get stressful or overwhelming, remember to breathe, everything is going to be okay. You’ve got this!
