The 50mm Focal Length: Focal February Part Four

The 50mm lens is the focal length I have by far the most experience with. When I still shot film, just about every camera I came across had one snapped on, and so I tested at least a hundred cameras with a 50mm lens. I also owned a Sigma 50mm f1.4 EX DG HSM for a time, when I shot Canon. It was my favourite 50mm. I did try using the Nikon version when I made the switch but my workflow priorities have changed, but you will see I have used both versions in my choices here....

Making My Way Home – Road Trip Photography – Trans-Canada ’25 (XVIII)

Table of Contents July 11th & 12th. 2025: Day Thirty-Seven & Thirty-Eight Days in Hotels VS Campgrounds VS Guest: 13/14/10 The issue with missing a day is I definitely don’t remember as much, especially with all them bleeding together like they are but on the 11th I was primed to see Superman at the drive-in theatre. My cousin Jackie’s husband let me know that even though my radio may stay on when I turn off the car it might time out after a few minutes. So as a backup I went to Canadian Tire and bought a small “boom box” plus the cabin air cleaner that was recommended to me by the French mechanic a few weeks ago at Bumper to Bumper....

My ankle was feeling slightly worse, and I accomplished quite a bit the previous day, so I figured I’d lay low. My Aunt and Uncle needed to run an errand, so I took the opportunity to clean up the laundry room somewhat. They’re in their 70s. Aunt Jody can’t really go downstairs at all, and Uncle Glen can’t bend over much, so there’s some dust bunnies and such and my last load of laundry had some dryer lint....

I had a good and much needed sleep, got up, made myself presentable and did some research before I left so I wouldn’t be wandering aimlessly. I decided to make my first stop at the Citadel National Historic Site. Now I’ve been avoiding museums and the like for this trip as I find it gives me a fishbowl feeling. Everything is….sterile....

Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia – Road Trip Photography – Trans-Canada ’25 (XIII)

Table of Contents July 1st, 2025: Day Twenty-Seven Distance Travelled: 144KMDays in Hotels VS Campgrounds VS Guest: 10/13/3 Dartmouth, Nova Scotia - Halifax, Nova Scotia - Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia I headed to downtown Halifax right in the morning, eager to get things done and then I saw a massive crowd gathering, all with flags and shirts and hats, etc. celebrating Canada Day. You know that elusive obvious that occurs sometimes? Yeah, that was me, not even realizing that I would have issues finding parking, navigating the streets with loads of people for the parade, and also limited to what would be open during holiday hours....

With my ankle mostly healed I headed to Halifax for a brief moment then changed plans and made my way to Peggy's Cove.
