A couple of weeks ago, I was lucky enough to spend a little time with a Momma fox and her kits.

2 mornings in a row, I ran into the Momma while out walking my dog just after 6AM.

The first morning, the fox was out sunbathing. Once she noticed me, she began to bark at me. (I’ve never heard this before.) She ran in the opposite direction - but stopped to keep her eyes on me while continuing to bark at me. I suspected that I was pretty close to her den without even realizing it.

The 2nd morning, she was out again, this time hunting. She was successful, and ran to the woods pretty quickly with a mouthful.

The 3rd morning I found her out playing with her kits. I felt like the universe was screaming at me to grab my camera - so I decided I needed to bring my dog back home and go get it. To my surprise, she had decided to stick around. And while she kept her eyes on me nearly the whole time, she didn't appear to be too bothered by my presence. (I did keep my distance, though.)

She even nursed her babies in front of me. And as a mom that nursed my babies for a journey that lasted 9 years straight - I was reminded of the beauty, the simplicity, the exhaustion and pure joy. Such an experience! There were 4 kits in total, but I wasn't able to get them all in the same frame.

My youngest has been at home hanging with me for the past week due to rising Covid numbers in the classroom. I gotta say though, we’ve been enjoying this little glitch in our schedule. I love having her all to myself. I don’t get any further with laundry, cleaning floors or the grocery list, but who cares about all that when you have someone to laugh with?

We had some real heavy rains here in Calgary a couple of days ago so we decided to leave town for the day. We took a trip north to play at Kraay Family Farm, Lacombe Corn Maze Inc. It rained on us just about the entire way there, but it turned out to be a beautiful day spent.
I was STOKED when I saw this old truck in the sunflower field. Seriously, felt like my luckiest day. I can always count on Brynn to be my subject, even for a few quick seconds. (Gotta pray sometimes I get those camera settings right in such a hurry!! 😅)
My family loves little hidden gems like this. We'll be excited to return for our pumpkins this fall!

When it's been really smoky here in the NW and you haven't seen sun in days, you take advantage when it finally does break through!

So happy that my little garden fairy is such a good sport and entertains my spontaneous ideas.

There life goes again...
Always busy and always managing to get in the way of my personal projects! (My 365)

But it's okay. We're just over here living, after all.

My life has been full of blessings lately, and I am so grateful for these memories being made. I may not always have the energy to stay up late and edit photos, or even the time to poor into my creative cup and take photos every single day.

I crave being busy behind the lens. But my reality is 3 young kids. And this is their special season in life. So while I sometimes fall off my own train, it's always been about staying on track for them and their needs.

I'm sure most of you get it. And I know things will ease up... eventually. So for now, I'll commit to shooting when it feels right and sharing with you what I love.

Since we're dealing with more restrictions here and the kids are at home, doing more distance learning, we've decided to take those lemons and make some sweet lemonade.

These are from our recent camping trip to Dinosaur Provincial Park. I actually took far more video this time around. Just need the time to play with it.
