Feels downright impossible to get a good stretch of weather in some places in . It’s like a right of passage to sit at Panekire hut and admire the shades of white through the windows. I think waiting to do the was the right call. At almost 80km long, every day on the Heaphy is a fundamentally different walk. There wasn’t any days of absolute majesty like the Routeburn or the Milford but it was made up for by the variety of plant and animal life. It’s so remote, it’s highly suspected to be the last place on the planet to house the .
