Feels downright impossible to get a good stretch of weather in some places in . It’s like a right of passage to sit at Panekire hut and admire the shades of white through the windows. I think waiting to do the was the right call. At almost 80km long, every day on the Heaphy is a fundamentally different walk. There wasn’t any days of absolute majesty like the Routeburn or the Milford but it was made up for by the variety of plant and animal life.
