Imagine having to justify your right to exist.

At a time of anti-trans hate and legislation, visibility matters more than ever.

Trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse people have always existed—even when forced into the dark.

To live openly in a world that is actively working to dismantle your right to healthcare, to compete in sport, to choose your own name, to simply live, is true courage.

I fervently wish that our world’s leaders could direct their energies towards solving far more critical issues affecting us than focusing on what bathroom you’re using, or what sports you’re playing, or what kind of ge****ls you have. I wish that people could get past their own fears so that they could truly see you.

As an artist, and as your q***r sibling, I will continue to create work that educates, advocates, and celebrates you.

If you are a trans person, and you are struggling—please know you are loved.

When I was 7, I told my parents I wanted to be an artist. Just what every immigrant parent wants to hear—after their many sacrifices, their eldest child wants to have a career renowned for making very little money.

After years of drawing, painting and writing, I picked up a camera at 13. I never put it down.

To be here now, 22 years later, launching my first solo show, feels a lot like arriving. In so many ways, it’s like I’ve finally arrived home to myself. And there’s a lot that has contributed to that, but one of the most critical factors? Being connected to a community in which I feel seen, safe, and ultimately, loved. I can take up space, and I feel affirmed because I see others like me who are doing the same.

When I initially came up with DICHOTOMY, I questioned if it would really mean anything to anyone else. But then, on opening night, a woman named Joan (then unknown to me) sought me out and said, “I have a relative, a teen girl, who is transitioning, and I was wondering if I could take a photo of your work to show her, because I think it would really make a difference”.

It was then that I knew that it had. Over 100 of you showed up on opening night. Hundreds more reached out from around the world. I cannot thank you enough—it means so much to me, and to the people in this series.

All my life, I have sought to create work for the greater good. It has never been enough to just take beautiful pictures. I am proud to have produced a body of work that has made a positive impact to my community, and beyond. This series took 3 years. Needless to say, it’s been worth it to see this through. It seems like this is going to have a life beyond this one weekend—so stay tuned for what’s to come.

I created DICHOTOMY for all the others—for those of us judged on appearance, race or gender. For those under-represented. For those of us who, in 62 countries, still cannot love freely without fear.

If there’s one thing I want you to take away from this, it’s to keep showing up—for yourself, and for others.

It won’t be easy. Not everybody will like it.

Do it anyway.

Join us for the opening night of DICHOTOMY, a portraiture series by Filipino-born, Australian-Canadian photographer Camille Santiago.

Featuring humans of diverse ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, careers, and body types, DICHOTOMY explores the subjects' identities as athletes and beyond, aiming to challenge preconceived stereotypes of what "athletes" are, how they should look, and who they should be.

Celebrate the launch of this exhibition at Studio 122 Calgary: meet the artist and the athletes featured in this project, and mingle with Calgary, Canmore & Banff's creative, athlete + outdoor community.

This project was made possible with the support of Arc'teryx Alberta, and is launching as part of Calgary's 2026 Exposure Photography Festival.

I am honoured to be speaking about my portraiture work and DICHOTOMY alongside photographers and curators Craig Richards, Christina Cuthbertson, Ryan Van Der Hout, Steve Speer and George Webber on Saturday, February 7th, 2-5pm at The Juniper Hotel, Banff .

During this 20 minute talk, I’ll share a little about the personal experiences that led me to the work I am drawn to create today; the making of DICHOTOMY, and what this project means to me. I’m also hoping we have enough time to open the floor for a little Q&A!

This event is free and is part of the , no tickets required.

Come by if you’re able—I’ll be speaking around 3pm.

It is with great pride and excitement that I announce my first solo show, running February 20–22 as part of Calgary’s 2026 .

Featuring people of diverse ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, careers, and body types, DICHOTOMY explores identity within and beyond athleticism. The project challenges preconceived ideas of what athletes are, how they should look, and who they are allowed to be.

DICHOTOMY has been in the making since 2023. As many creatives will know, not every idea that takes root in our minds makes it out into the world—or becomes something tangible—and I’ve certainly had many moments where I wasn’t sure I’d be able to pull this off. Completing this project has been a true labour of love alongside working full-time, running my own business, parenting a dinosaur (Autumn), volunteering, tearing my ACL + managing other health issues, going through a break-up, and navigating day-to-day life as a whole.

I am incredibly grateful for the support of .alberta, the athletes featured in this project, and the crew (tagged in comments) who helped make it possible. Without your support—financial, physical, emotional, or otherwise—this would not have come to life.

Please join me in celebrating at our opening night on Friday, February 20, 2026 at . Come meet me and the athletes featured in this project, and mingle with Calgary, Canmore, and Banff’s creative, athlete + outdoor community.

Tickets for opening night are available now via the link in my bio. I can’t wait to see you all there.

5 weeks ago, Brittany, Phoebe and I completed a 6-day traverse of The Rockwall: a 55km, 2,700m elevation gain hike through mountain passes, larch forests, glaciers, alpine lakes, and unforgettable landscapes. It’s hard to believe that this was all once the ocean floor, millions of years ago.

Maddie and Tyler, visiting from across the border, celebrating one year married and giving me their absolute trust walking barefoot through water, sand, dirt, and at one point, an ant’s nest, to get these shots.
