Since I’ve been on a roll posting Weimaraners recently I should probably complete the set. This is our 14yr old senior Athena. She’s been featured here often, but the last few years just didn’t want to pose anymore. And I didn’t want to make her. So for her to cooperate for her birthday was extra special.

This one needs an explanation, and I felt like I needed to hold on to this for a little bit. This is Raefn, our puppy. She is Saga’s sister. After having Saga for a little while, the vet found a congenital heart condition which would limit how much she could participate in our active lifestyle. So after talking with the breeder, and shedding a few tears, we decided to exchange her for one of her sisters, and the breeder would find her a lovely home that doesn’t go trail running and rock hiking and mountain biking. After a few weeks of observation and new medication, Saga is doing great. She is now called Lucy and has a wonderful family with another Weimaraner waiting to play with her. In the meantime - meet Raefn. She’s a firecracker. Expect lots of photos. Although she wasn’t nearly as cooperative as Saga.

Last year we adopted Ghost, a 2yr old Weimaraner, after our 13yr old boy passed. As he’s settled in he is turning into a fantastic dog.
I took some shots when we just got him, but he didn’t enjoy the experience so I never posted them up. Today we tried again! Two treats in it seems like he’s done this for years.

Tell your dogs that my dogs said Merry Christmas, happy holidays and a safe new year. We’ll be taking some time off, enjoying family, friends, hiking and snuggles under blankets watching bad movies.

Thank you all for making this the busiest Christmas in several years! We loved every moment but it’s time to take a break 😉😂❤️

John loved golden retrievers. He loved all dogs, but especially goldens. The last few years, after every holiday photo season, I donated a day of photo shoots for a fundraiser. John was our Santa. He recently lost his lifelong battle with cancer. His celebration of life had more people than I think I have met in my life. That tells you all you need to know.

This week we’re remembering John. When you see a golden, give them an extra scratch for him. In his honor, a $700 donation was made to the Mississauga humane society, where it will be put to good use for any dog. And hopefully a few goldens.

Thanks, John. It’s not going to be the same without you.

And that’s a wrap for TheBigBas christmas season of 2026. Thank you everyone for slogging through this horrendous weather and choosing to spend your time with us. It truly is a joy, and we created such precious memories together.
It means a lot to me that I have so many clients that are as passionate about this as we are, and that we get to create these wonderful set pieces with amazing prints. Thank you to all the wonderful stores that invite us every year and the amazing staff showing up early and staying late to clear the store so we can turn it into a photo studio.

And of course, thank you to my lovely wife that not only works full days as a teacher wrangling unruly children but then spends her precious weekends dressed up as an elf wrangling unruly dogs, where sometimes the teacher voice has to come out as well.

I have a couple of long nights of editing ahead of me, and fretting over delivery services right before holiday deliveries, but it’s totally worth it.

A few more nights till Christmas!
And then I can sleep. And hibernate.

STOP SCROLLING — these are the FINAL Christmas pet sessions of 2025.
No more dates. No last-minute extras. This is it.
If you want Christmas photos of your pet — or if you want to surprise someone with a session — you’re down to the very last remaining times:
Dec 13 – Cambridge Hespeler: 5 spots
Dec 14 – Waterloo Beechwood: 6 spots
These sessions sell out every single year. Why?
Because we bring the entire studio to you: real holiday set, real lighting, real print-worthy images — not phone snapshots that disappear in your feed.
Packages start at $75 with both prints and digitals.
If you want in, don’t wait, don’t “think about it,” it only takes 2 minutes to book your session below.

Alright, here we go — the final Christmas pet photo days of 2025.
Dec 13 in Cambridge. Dec 14 in Waterloo. After that… we pack up the tree, the props, the lights, and call it a season.
If you’ve been thinking, “Ah, I’ll book later,” well… this is later. These last two dates always disappear fast, and once they’re gone, that’s it until next year.
We’re bringing the full studio setup into your favourite local pet stores — real Christmas tree, real cozy set, real props, and yes… real chaos. Your dog will love it. Your cat will tolerate it. You’ll get photos actually worth printing instead of letting vanish into the camera roll abyss.
30-minute sessions, choose your favourites on the spot, and packages start at $75 with prints and matching digital files.
If you want in, now’s the moment. Grab your spot before someone else does.
