"Still Life Mastery: Phase One Medium Format Hands-On Experience" will allow you to explore new niches in the age of AI; while AI thrives on speed, scale, and quantity, classical photographic knowledge thrives on depth, specialization, and intentional limitation. Photographers who understand large-format systems, optical geometry, and historical processes have a future offering what is not mass-producible, such as museum-grade reproduction, archival scanning and preservation, historically-responsible restoration, and fine-art printing with optical integrity. Now living in small town Saskatchewan, Gerald was born and trained in Germany and has worked professionally across Europe, the Middle East, and North America. With formal training in photography and museum technology, Gerald specializes in museum-grade photography: images created with intent, technical authority, and a clear focus on longevity — built to endure in archives, exhibitions, publications, and collections.
Gerald leads advanced digitization and imaging projects for museums, archives, and cultural institutions worldwide. His work includes high-end collection digitization, historic film and photographic materials, and technically demanding on-location projects. Gerald has made significant contributions to national and international museums and private collections, having digitized over 100,000 historical photographs to museum-quality standards.
Gerald has enjoyed a multifaceted career and is a sought-after expert in his field, serving clients around the world. A married father of one daughter, he has a profound appreciation for the human stories he helps tell and is passionate about preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
