Maternal Grace: In 2022 I visited Mo’orea, Tahiti with the intention to swim with these graceful creatures. After two unsuccessful boat tours, the third made it all worth it as a humpback whale and her newborn came to check us out. They timidly passed a few times, as she was hiding her little one on her far side. Finally, on the fourth pass, she released her newborn to swim on its own.

Since their release last month, both of our bison have been stealing the show- but we wanted to give Untamed his own post. This younger male stood out to me with his playful personality, a stark contrast to his larger counterpart Midnight Outlaw. This little guy reminded me almost of a dog- playing with his siblings, rolling in the snow, and enjoying his surroundings. My experience between these two very different bison gave me a unique perspective into the traits of this incredible species.
