Last night I had the immense privilege of documenting an old college friend's marriage to her partner Sean, and it was perfect. I thought it was time for a bit of a reintroduction, though maybe not a traditional one.

We live in an area that has dozens of talented photographers and I'm so grateful so many people have the opportunity to pin down their stories and memories onto film (so to speak). I think I echo a lot of artists when I say how much hiring me helps.

This is not a side hustle for me - it's my job. When I think of where my ability to do certain things comes from, it's not from a company or corporation - it's from dozens of families, choosing me and trusting me.

Your investment helps me pay for my son's tuition as he studies for a career and a bright future.

It is helping us realize the dream we have been saving up for for 20 years - adding onto our tiny house.

It puts food on the table for two teenagers (if you know, you know).

It quietly contributes to my ability to do free or discounted sessions for families with uncertain futures.

It helps pay for theatre school for my talented daughter.

It means my husband, a paramedic for 26 years, doesn't have to take a lot of OT shifts and can focus on our home and our adventures.

In a world that is increasing all of the wrong things - data centres, noise, expenses, turmoil - you are choosing an artist when you hire a photographer. But more importantly, you are choosing a human. And I wanted to say thanks.

Hey you! Have you started to think ahead to autumn yet? I know, I know, it's still summer for a while yet (thank goodness) but if you're looking for fall photos, PLEASE reach out ASAP so I can get you booked in!

My calendar has almost no breathing room in August, and September is a bit tricky for me as I'm a mentor at a photography retreat for one weekend and have several family birthdays taking up other weekend dates.

October always fills up super quickly so make sure to snag your date :)
