It’s been a while since my last post. Thanks for checking in on me, . I’ve been feeling a bit paralyzed when it comes to my photography and trying to figure out my path in life. In my horticulture studies, I’ve studied about managing natural landscapes, which has connected me with nature in a whole new way. I’ve enjoyed learning about ecology, but I haven’t been connecting with photography as much lately. There’s this resistance I can’t quite shake off, and honestly, Instagram as a platform just isn’t doing it for me.⁣
⁣
I know I need to figure out how to increase my income, but I’m also hoping to get back into photography and rediscover my passion for capturing wildlife. During my break, I have done a client canine shoot and I submitted my first photo to a competition the and I ended up receiving a bronze with distinction! So I know I’m capable of doing this. Now, I just need to cut through the chaos and focus on what I love.

It’s been a week since Otis left us and I still can’t forget one of our first nights together. I woke up to his 20lb body crash-landing on my head like a furry missile, Cedar barking like he was on intruder alert, and claws flying everywhere. For a split second, I thought we were under attack! but to be fair, Cedar and I were the ones intruding on your bed! From that night on, we all grew together, and Cedar was so lucky to have a friend twice his size to keep him in check when he got out of line. Wherever you are now, I hope you’ve got endless room to stretch out and plenty of birds to watch (and no intruders to deal with).

Cedar had an amazing time on the winter river trail, his playful spirit shining through with every curious expression. Lately, I’ve been inspired by the vibrant colors of sunflowers and rudbeckia blooming at the farm during this shoulder season. In this shot, Cedars red merle coat is framed by warm amber hues, creating a cozy atmosphere. After all, amber and red are best friends on the color wheel.

I have always wanted to capture a peaceful moment under our native Eastern white pine trees, Pinus strobus. The way the fallen, decomposing, red needles create a perfect backdrop for my little Cedar makes this shot feel like magic. Nature and mammals—my two favorite things coming together in one frame. 🌲
