I love love, and feel lucky everyday to get to be a part of so many special 'kodak' moments. Whether it be during a wedding or a family session, there is always a moment that pulls at my heart strings...

This session, was full of those moments, from walking up to Audrey & Allan's car and seeing them in their original wedding attire from 1974 to watching them act like excited kids who you’d think just got married, while we shot these photos.

Celebrating 50 years of marriage today (and currently in Vegas!!) this couple is more than couple goals. I've had the pleasure of getting to know them over the years after working on a few other sessions together - but this evening was one i'll never forget, and feel honoured to have had the chance to witness such a sweet connection.

Their love and the fact they have their wedding attire in such perfect condition fifty years later, is a true testament to the quote "If you take care of things, they last.” x2

Happy Anniversary, love birds - don't party too hard in Vegas! ♥️

When given permission, I have always loved story telling with my posts, allowing my readers to feel the energy & mood of the work I share… but after planning this session and meeting this special family, I felt their story was better coming from one of them 🤍

“For my mother’s birthday, we decided it was time for new family photos. For the first time ever, all of her grandchildren would be in the same place: the place we call home, PEI ❤️

Our Dad got diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in late 2022. We found out in May of 2023 that there was nothing more they could do and our family was devastated. My brother and I went with some family members to New York and brought him home to NS as soon as he was stable, knowing that his last wishes were to be home when he passed. When we got home in October, my sisters came from Alberta right away to care for him, and for the first time in years we were all together. He called our mother in PEI and asked her to come, she dropped everything to go see him immediately. Even after separation, my mom and Dad stayed close. He would tell me all the time that my mom was the love of his life, and that he was so grateful that she was always there for him. We wanted so badly to have one last family photo, with mom, the three of us children, and my nieces and nephews. A photo to show the life they created on this earth, but we lost Dad before we could make this happen, and we were absolutely devastated.

My dad left us one last gift, the gift of my sister and 3 nephews coming home to PEI, and all of us being together for the very first time! I had never even met my youngest two nephews when I asked Susan if she was available to capture our family, and when she said yes, I was so excited! We decided we could not do it without our Dad, and so we brought a photo of him and included him in the family photoshoot.

Susan helped find a way to grant one of my father’s last wishes, we finally have an entire family photo. No words I have will ever express the gratitude my family feels for her talent and kindness during this time! My Dad would be so very proud 🙏🏽”

Many of my clients this summer are families visiting the island on vacation, and see their time together, as an opportunity to book an extended family photo session.

But some, see it as an opportunity to pop the question! As we were wrapping up their shoot, I asked to sneak them aside so I could get a 'quick photo with Sam and their furbaby', which really was Chris’s cue to get down on one knee... 🥹❤️

Planning surprise proposals is one of my favourite parts of this job, but getting the chance to include (and surprise) their entire family this time too, was extra special for everyone - especially his Mom & Dad.

Flowers for Daddy

Delivering photos like this, the night before Father's Day, has my heart bursting with love. These are the little moments I'm so grateful to get to be a part of and document for not only Mom and Dad but for sweet Miss Whix, who quite literally, has her Dad in the palm of her hand 💗

This is what the holidays are all about. Spreading love & togetherness. It’s not about the fancy things... It's about who you get to spent it with - and I'm so grateful I got to spend some of mine, with these beautiful souls.

These stockings contained everyday things and cost very little - approx $18 each. Lipgloss, handcream, a puzzle book, candy, mittens, etc... but the genuine surprise & joy, the bewildered smiles to who their secret Santa could be, the hugs and happy tears... like you can see in these photos, are priceless moments I will never forget and forever cherish getting to be a part of, and putting the time into doing.

Thank you to the wonderful staff, especially Candace, at Whisperwood Villa for helping me organize this project, and for choosing individuals who would otherwise be all alone this Christmas. Not only did it help me feel joy this holiday, but after many "You made my whole Christmas" comments, I know I got to help a few others feel it, too.

Merry Christmas ❤️🎄

This afternoon I got to surprise 13 unsuspecting residents of Whisperwood Villa with Christmas stockings.

Their smiles, the hugs I was asked for after opening their stocking, and the happy tears I shed between rooms, feeling their genuine happiness between these photos… made my Christmas so much brighter — more than I ever could have expected.

Thanks to those who donated to add extra stockings… and special thank you and shout out to Candace, their on staff activities coordinator, who helped me organize, deliver and choose the individuals who wouldn’t get any visitors this year to receive this surprise.

Do something kind for someone you don’t know this holiday season. I promise you won’t regret it… and you’ll change their whole Christmas ❤️🎄

6 years ago, the first year I held Christmas minis at a 'studio' in my unfinished basement with the tiniest sets for kids. Built from wood I found online & thrift stores - it was definitely less than professional... and that was the year I started working with the Wry family.

Since then, i've gotten the chance to see these fellas grow into the handsomest little men, who came ready to pose at their smiliest (and sweetest) session to date! Thanks for allowing me to be a part of your Christmas 🎄❤️

Thank you to everyone who came out over the weekend for Christmas minis! I'd also like to thank everyone that has been patient with weather reschedules this year.

From Apple Blossoms blooming late, to wonky summer weather and a rainy/weird autumn, this season, scheduling sessions has felt like the scene on Friends where Ross is yelling Pivot while he's trying to pull the couch up the stairs.

Understanding the fact it's stressful rescheduling plans, and sometimes outfits.. I truly appreciate those that have been kind and flexible through it all. As a small business owner that's income is 90% weather dependant, and only one person, kindness goes a long way ♥️

Here are a few sneak peeks from day one of Christmas minis of a family who I've had the pleasure of working, with since my first year of business. Alicia was my first (ever) maternity shoot — as you can see, that baby bump grew into one beautiful little lady and it was lovely getting to catch up with them, and play at the tree farm with her adorable party of five!

As a veterans daughter I am typically a stickler to wait until after Remembrance Day to start decorating…

But it’s been a tough (personally & professionally) and kind of extra lonely year, and I like to think if my dad was here today he would say what he use to say to me — “do what makes you the happiest Shusan, it makes me happy to see you smile”… *for context he always pronounced my name sort of like a sneeze… “shuu-saan” in one breath lol*

So, I got my Xmas PJs on and did just that, and I hope he’s looking down smiling too. A ‘lil reminder (especially to myself) to do whatever makes you happy, even when it’s hard.

PS — a big thank you to everyone who has booked in for a Christmas mini this month, and family sessions/wedding into next summer. I can’t express how much it means to me to have so many of you still supporting my work after I’ve been so MIA on my social media handling everything else life threw at me the last 6 months xo 🎄❤️

This week's Wedding Wednesday post features Emily & Dylan

This beautiful couple's focus on their wedding day was their love, but more importantly all of the people in their lives that built them up and supported them to their wedding day - their family, their friends and their faith in god.

One of those perfect days where the rain holds off for cliff photos with your besties, you get a surprise sunset for last minute portraits and the speeches and stories are so touching that even your photographer ends up in tears ♥️
