When given permission, I have always loved story telling with my posts, allowing my readers to feel the energy & mood of the work I share… but after planning this session and meeting this special family, I felt their story was better coming from one of them 🤍

“For my mother’s birthday, we decided it was time for new family photos. For the first time ever, all of her grandchildren would be in the same place: the place we call home, PEI ❤️
Our Dad got diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in late 2022. We found out in May of 2023 that there was nothing more they could do and our family was devastated. My brother and I went with some family members to New York and brought him home to NS as soon as he was stable, knowing that his last wishes were to be home when he passed. When we got home in October, my sisters came from Alberta right away to care for him, and for the first time in years we were all together. He called our mother in PEI and asked her to come, she dropped everything to go see him immediately. Even after separation, my mom and Dad stayed close. He would tell me all the time that my mom was the love of his life, and that he was so grateful that she was always there for him. We wanted so badly to have one last family photo, with mom, the three of us children, and my nieces and nephews. A photo to show the life they created on this earth, but we lost Dad before we could make this happen, and we were absolutely devastated.
My dad left us one last gift, the gift of my sister and 3 nephews coming home to PEI, and all of us being together for the very first time! I had never even met my youngest two nephews when I asked Susan if she was available to capture our family, and when she said yes, I was so excited! We decided we could not do it without our Dad, and so we brought a photo of him and included him in the family photoshoot.
Susan helped find a way to grant one of my father’s last wishes, we finally have an entire family photo. No words I have will ever express the gratitude my family feels for her talent and kindness during this time! My Dad would be so very proud 🙏🏽”
