last year vs this year with baby five π
this time I took off the year before I jumped back in.
I jumped right back into births at 3 months post partum after our 4th and while it was the most perfect place to be, I knew this time I needed to slow down.
Attending my first birth back in a year to jump back off call for the summer being home and present with my quickly growing gang of kids.
Doula work requires such gentle and neutral energy; allowing space for slowness is how I can show up for dear friends & clients.
Before stepping into someone's space, I am so intentional on letting go of the energy I bring in the door and doing my best to leave whats outside those doors out on the doorstep.
Many have said holding space in birth isnt worth anything, that its a filler word for what a doula does.
but before every phone call , prep meeting , birthday or post partum visit. I remind myself how important it is to let go of what isnt theirs and be prepared to hold what they pass along to me.
It can be heavy work & yet, the most beautiful work. β¨οΈ
- sending love to all my home for summer mums, I dont count down the summers left but simply sit in the summer we have right now π€
