Most people come to me saying, “I just need a headshot,” and don’t have much else in mind.

This client came in knowing she’s never really liked photos of herself but she needed something professional. She knew that she wanted them to have colour and personality. Something that actually felt like her.

And honestly, I usually steer people away from patterns, but this was one of those times where it would’ve been wrong to say no.

She chose bold, fun patterns (the good kind—not the tiny ones that go weird on camera), and we let that energy lead the shoot.

We did some with her signature black frames, some without, and in every photo, she still feels like the same grounded, vibrant person her clients see.

And the best part was that she actually loved her photos! Proof that your headshots don’t have to be neutral to be professional.

Dancers rarely need just one headshot.

A clean, simple image is important because it clearly shows you.

But dancers are also performers and artists. Expression, presence, and personality are a huge part of what makes someone memorable.

When I photograph dancers, I like to create both: a classic, polished headshot and a few images that show more individuality and energy. The kinds of photos that also work beautifully for social media and sharing things like classes or workshops online.

Some jobs have very specific requirements for a headshot — and this one needed to fit those guidelines to a T.

So that’s exactly what we did.

But once we had the required shot, we created a few more that felt a little more modern and relaxed.

Because here’s the thing:

You work hard at your job.
And just because your workplace asks for a specific type of photo doesn’t mean you shouldn’t also have one that you actually love of yourself.

A great headshot can meet the requirements…
and still reflect the person behind the title.

The right images help people feel who you are before they even meet you — and that connection matters, especially in healthcare.

I worked with Elizabeth, owner of Neurospark Occupational Therapy here in Chilliwack, to create headshots and branding images for her website that reflect both her practice and her warm, personable approach.

Occupational therapy is all about helping people participate fully in the activities that matter most in their lives — from self-care like dressing and eating, to succeeding at work or school, moving comfortably at home, and engaging in community and social life.

Elizabeth works with both children and adults, supporting physical, emotional, and social challenges with compassion, expertise, and a deeply client-centred approach.

I recently photographed Tabea Hall as she steps into her new role supporting families as a doula here in Chilliwack.

Her goal is simple but powerful: helping women feel prepared, comfortable, and informed during one of the most life-changing experiences they’ll ever have.

We created her headshots on a white backdrop with soft backlighting — giving the images a clean, bright feel while keeping the focus on her. This style also makes the photos incredibly versatile for websites, business cards, social media, posters, and marketing materials.

When someone is choosing who will support them through birth, connection matters… and great headshots help that connection start before the first conversation.

This summer I had the chance to create branding images for .sport.pt and , both owned by Victoria at her beautiful clinic in Greendale.

What stood out most wasn’t just the gorgeous space or the thoughtful care that goes into both human and canine physiotherapy — it was the community. We had several volunteer models (humans and dogs 🐾) step in for the shoot, which really speaks to how loved Victoria and her work are.

Branding photos are never just about photos. They’re about telling the story behind the business — the people, the purpose, and the connection clients feel when they walk through the door. So grateful to help tell this one.
