About me:
I have always found joy in paying attention to the details around me, but it wasn't until I fortuitously landed a photo-journalist position on the East Coast that I discovered how rewarding it is to capture them with a camera and turn a moment into timeless art. As those around me started enjoying and commenting on the photos I posted weekly, I was soon asked to photograph a wedding, an
engagement, then a family portrait, and another. Over the period of the next few years, I was privileged to work and learn under the talented Michael Rosengard of North Island Photography in New York (check out his page at https://www.facebook.com/NorthIslandPhoto), and my passion quickly grew for this craft called photography - writing with light! I now reside in the beautiful Fraser Valley in British Columbia, Canada, and am actively exploring the rest of the world with my camera in hand as often as I can. Currently I am inspired and challenged to keep learning and growing as an artist through participating in the Abbotsford Photo Arts Club (APAC) and I am eager to see the images I have yet to create, to meet those I have yet to have the honor of photographing! What to expect:
There is great value in spending time with people during a photo shoot and not rushing the process; making sure you feel as comfortable as possible is a vital element in the process of artistically portraying who you are. Using a blend of candid and traditional techniques I patiently wait for moments to naturally unfold, and also guide you into the positions and poses that will translate into an attractive image. I work mostly with natural light either outside or inside the homes of those I am working with, and am always willing to travel to far-off places to document part of your story! In a pre-session consultation, I like to gain an understanding of what you are hoping for in your photographs and discuss details like wardrobe selection and location. Also, if possible, it is fun to sit down with you in my studio when your images are ready to present them to you for the first time! With me as your photographer, you’ll experience an easygoing, enjoyable photo session while I work tirelessly behind the camera to capture moments of “your one wild and precious life" (excerpt from one of my favorite poems The Summer Day by Mary Oliver).
