When you get a message from your buddies telling you to come down to the river right away because the bite is on, only then to be told that the bite is now off but please be the photographer when you show up 20 minutes later. 🤣😒

Surface explosion! 💥 Who doesn't love the leaps and rolls of a big coho salmon?

Quite often I am asked where are coho salmon found in rivers? It's a species which look for peace, or maybe they're just lazy. "Frog water", where there is very little current, usually holds coho salmon. Sometimes the least appetizing spots are where you will catch the most coho salmon. 2026's chinook salmon fishing season is quickly coming to an end. There are still the odd fresh fish arriving in our river systems, but majority of the run is now at the hatcheries, the spawning grounds, or a few freezers. 😉 How was fishing for you compared to previous years?

As we approach the end of October, potential fishing opportunities for coho salmon in the Tidal Fraser River dangle in front of us. This stretch of river is closed to all users from mid September to late October, to protect endangered Interior steelhead stocks. Once that window passes, Fisheries and Oceans Canada has the ability to provide the opening for hatchery coho salmon but somehow it is never scheduled ahead of time anymore.
