If an adult is killed this time of year, you’re effectively killing their entire family. The vixen is still reliant on the male to bring food, and the kits are still nursing. These are incredibly skilled hunters — they truly do not need human intervention.

Just yesterday, I watched this mama make three trips: twice coming back with her mouth stuffed full of rodents, and a third time returning with a short-tailed weasel. They’ve got this.

Trust me, if you just sit quietly and watch, they’ll give you plenty of moments like this one. No bait required.
