I'm excited to get this one on the go !!!!

Holger Richter, a self-taught artist originally from Germany, but now based in Coaticook, will be showing his collection of photographs titled “Unspoken Darkness” from June 18th to July 12th. This show will combine several series, the first of which began with a photoshoot in an abandoned former prison in 2019, and has since developed into a collection that presents mental health through the lens of several staged characters.

Un******ng the dark side of mental health, this exhibit addresses ever-important issues such as su***de, homelessness, and imprisonment. These domestic scenes highlight these underrepresented folks as they navigate the decay of abandoned buildings. Meanwhile, their environments crumble around them, as if a reflection of the desolation they have experienced.

Presented in black & white and muted tones, what Holger is best known for, this collection captures the fragmentation of our inner and outer worlds, and sheds light on the reality of those going through tough times. Mingled within these photos, Holger will also debut a recent series of minimalistic sculptures, made mostly from driftwood and stone.
