We lived in Poland and NYC before settling in Canada. Taking up residence in Edmonton, Alberta, our passion for photography was born amidst the stunning splendor of the Canadian Rocky Mountains, where we spent weekends hiking and capturing photos. Encouraged by the positive feedback we received on our nature images, we realized that photography was something we could happily spend our lives doing

and decided to branch out. Building on our sensitivity to the beauty of nature, we developed a signature photojournalistic style that allows us to capture the vibrant actions and rich emotions of weddings in truly engaging, elegant images. Since founding BDFK Photography, the success of our artistic vision has earned us numerous awards in digital competition from the Professional Wedding Photographers of Canada, WPJA, AG-WPJA and Fearless Photographers. At every event, we are thrilled to share in the joy of another happily married couple! We live in Cochrane and focus more on mountain elopements and weddings in Banff, Canmore and Calgary area. Some days in the Canadian Rockies feel like a dream you don’t want to wake up from — especially when multiple elopements unfold under skies filled with cloud inversions and golden light.

One morning, we hiked above a sea of clouds just before sunrise. The couple stood quietly on the ridge as the first light touched the peaks, creating a soft, glowing horizon. It felt like they were alone in the world, floating above everything.

On another day, a different pair reached the summit as the sun dipped lower, casting warm tones across the mountains. The clouds rolled slowly through the valleys, shifting and changing with every minute — a constantly moving, breathtaking backdrop to their vows and quiet moments together.

And then there are those rare in-between times, when the clouds part just enough to reveal layers of mountains below, while still wrapping everything in softness. Each elopement felt completely unique, yet connected by the same wild beauty and sense of adventure.

Cloud inversions in the mountains are never guaranteed, but when they happen, they transform a Banff hiking elopement into something truly unforgettable — a mix of intimacy, nature, and once-in-a-lifetime scenery that simply can’t be replicated.😊

Jaclyn 💛 Mark at Moraine Lake — one of those mornings in the Canadian Rockies that felt almost unreal. The mountains were wrapped in soft clouds, the turquoise water perfectly calm, and the golden light quietly touching the peaks.

We explored the shoreline, climbed onto rocky viewpoints, and wandered through forest paths — capturing real moments, laughter, and that beautiful connection they share. Every frame felt cinematic, with their warm tones standing out against the cool blues of Moraine Lake.

They change on rocky ridges, in the wind, sometimes in the snow — thousands of feet above the world.

Hiking elopements are not easy. They take effort, courage, and a wild kind of determination. You don’t end up on top of a mountain by accident — you go there because your soul wants something bigger.

These couples choose adventure over comfort.
They choose experience over tradition.
They choose each other — fully, bravely, intentionally.

And our brides… we admire you so much. Getting ready on a summit in chilly air, stepping into your wedding dress with numb fingers, and then staying in it for photos because you want that moment, that light, that view. You are incredible.

This post is for the brave ones.
The wild-hearted ones.

Our work has been featured in People magazine with exclusive photos from this unforgettable sunrise mountain wedding!😊❤️

What started as a windy, dramatic morning in the mountains turned into one of the most magical moments we’ve ever witnessed — a double rainbow appearing right as the couple stood together on the ridge. Pure nature. Pure emotion. Pure luck and timing.

Moments like this are why we love what we do. You can plan, prepare, hike in the dark, chase light… but sometimes nature gifts you something beyond imagination — and you just have to be ready.

We are so grateful to the couple Jihae💙Stephen for trusting us, and honored to see this story shared on such a big platform ✨

Carmen💙Garner’s Banff National Park elopement felt like stepping into another world. We started hiking in the quiet of the night, moving under a sky filled with stars and that peaceful mountain stillness. The climb wasn’t easy, but they handled it like true adventurers — strong, determined, and smiling the whole way.

As the sun rose and the first golden light washed over the peaks, we explored the summit and captured their elopement portraits surrounded by endless alpine views. After sunrise, just the two of them at the top of the mountain, they read their vows in complete privacy — emotional, intimate, and deeply meaningful. We even shared the trail with a little marmot grazing nearby, such a sweet and unexpected moment.

Later, down by the lake, they had a short ceremony with close friends and family, bringing everyone together after their private mountaintop vows. An unforgettable adventure and such a beautiful experience from start to finish 🤍
