The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat! It is a shame one team had to lose as the Cochrane Cobras defeated Airdrie's Croxford High School 4-3 in a game last night that featured two extra time ends, and six shooters from each team during the penalty kicks to finally find a victor. Thanks to the stellar play of Cochrane's goal keeper who also scored a goal during the overtime penalty kicks. Cochrane now plays for the Rocky View championship next week.

A curious pedestrian sneaks a peek at Marni Koelin's painting that she is working on in downtown Cochrane, during Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery's Art in the Park as part of which there are 10 Alberta communities participating, including members from the Route 22 Artist Collective Gallery. Artist Vesna Vidic (background) prepares to finish a painting she has been working on.

Magpies are recognized as one of the most intelligent in bird species, however, I don't believe they have mastered reading words. I believe this is an Eurasian Magpie which are common in Alberta and perhaps it can read and is disabled, hence perched on the sign.

Great game for the Cochrane Cobras last night as they beat Springbank 7-2, (don't quote me on the score because I left before the game ended and I believe the score was 7-2). Lots of action. Cochrane's starting goalie (black shirt) was injured on a collision and had to leave the game, but returned for the second half. Looking at the standings Cochrane leapt into first place with the victory depending on the outcome of the Bert Church. Cochrane is the only team without a loss thus far.

It has been a couple of years since I shot soccer. Holy rust! Anyhow, Cochrane High beat Airdrie's Bert Church 2-1 last night in a tight, wind blown, game.

Long time Cochrane volunteers, Don and Arlene Hepburn (behind ladder) replace letters and words on the bulletin board outside St. Andrew's United Church. The couple have dedicated their time to numerous organizations in Cochrane throughout the years.

Shot this the other day when I opened the curtains and discovered a doe staring back at me. The deer was cutting our lawn, and fertilizing it. Lots of deer activity in our town.

Tremendous art displays this weekend at The Common Works. Chef H skips the butter on the popcorn and grates Parmigiano instead and torches razor thin peppers for an appetizer, one of several delicious appetizers he created. Lucie Bause creates a painting employing brilliant colours. Michael Emery carves figures out of soapstone while Marla Blackwell creates a beautiful image that she had been planning to paint for the past 20 years. Lillian Sokil demonstrates her painting talents.It is the Fifth Annual event for the Calgary Artists Studio Tour and will continue tomorrow on Sunday.
