I photograph a lot of fast-moving moments.

Proposals where everything hinges on perfect timing.
Wedding days that don’t slow down for anyone.
Corporate events where you get one shot to get it right.

But newborn sessions?

They’re different.

They force me to slow down. To breathe. To pay attention to the smallest details, the way they curl, the way they settle, the tiny shifts that make each image feel intentional.

There’s no rush. No pressure to chase a moment.

Just time, patience, and space to create something soft, quiet, and meaningful.

And honestly… I need that.

It’s where I reset.

It’s not just about the moment you get down on one knee.

It’s the way the sun hits at exactly the right second.
The location feeling like it was chosen just for her.
The crowd disappearing so it feels like you’re the only two people in the world.
The setup that turns a question into a moment she’ll replay forever.

A good proposal asks the question.
A great one makes it unforgettable.

I shot a proposal last night overlooking the city on Canada Day and it felt like everything aligned perfectly.

The rain cleared just 10 minutes before they arrived, the sun came out, and the whole moment just glowed. She kept saying, “I’ve been waiting for years, you have no idea,” and you could feel every second of that in the way she said yes.

We popped a bottle of champagne, soaked it all in, and it hit me on the drive home, how wild it is that I get to be part of moments like this. Quiet, intimate, life-changing moments.

This one was really special 🤍

3AM alarms. Empty roads. Not another soul in sight.

By the time the sun hit Peyto Lake, it felt like the whole world was theirs.

One question. One answer. Complete silence… except for a yes.

Not every sunrise shows up like this.

After two weeks of flat light, the peaks finally caught, that soft orange glow that lasts for minutes and then disappears.

I was sitting behind them, playing tourist, camera pointed at the mountains like I didn’t know exactly what was about to happen. Then Max subtly motioned for me to follow him.

Next thing I know, I’m creeping behind a rock, keeping low while he takes a second behind the trees.

Later, he told me he just needed a minute. Not to stall, but to breathe. To steady himself. To remind himself this wasn’t something to rush.

Because moments like this aren’t about perfection. They’re about being present enough to feel it.

We found a pocket of space in the chaos. Just enough for it to feel like it was theirs.

And for a minute, it was.

The mountains lit up. The nerves settled. And everything landed exactly the way it was supposed to.

Some moments don’t feel real until you’re standing in them.

Wind in your face, legs shaking a little, the world stretching out in every direction… and somehow it all goes quiet when you look at each other.

This is the kind of place that reminds you, what you’re building together is just as big as what’s around you.

I can’t get over how many beautiful proposals I get to photograph 🔥

Some places just feel bigger than you… and somehow, so does this kind of love.
Lake Minnewanka showed off, but these two? They were the real view.

She thought it was just a sunrise hike.

But every step, every turn, every second of light was planned.

The Rockies don’t care about your timeline, the sun moves, the crowds show up, and the moment either happens… or it doesn’t.

This one hit perfectly.

If you’re thinking about proposing out here, don’t leave it to chance.
