Hello lucky parents with horse loving kids - I see you.
I understand horses are expensive. Not only in and of themselves, but also all the food and the equipment, the clothes and vet bills and a hundred other things you never thought of. They may not really understand the sacrifices that you make in order to give them that, but they will one day. And in the meantime, please allow me to thank you for them.
Its a lot of early mornings and late nights. Being out in the coldest of winter days and cheering them on under the blazing sun.
But instead of trolling the malls you kids are learning to care for another living thing.
Instead of sitting in front of the tv, they're learning that some things need to be done whether they feel like it or not.
They are learning real confidence; not the kind that comes with a participation ribbon -The honest quiet kind that helps you pull up your socks when you need to dig deep or straightens you back when a bully comes knocking.
They are out in the sunlight, working and growing strong inside and out.
It may not be the most luxurious lifestyle, and god knows that as a career it can often be found lacking, but I don't think you could find a better investment in building resiliency, character and resourcefulness.
And with any luck, they just might end up living the most extraordinary life as a consequence.
So again, thank you moms and dads. I hope they all make you so proud.
Cheers,
Kim 🐴
