I’ve been working quietly behind the scenes.
New locations. New concepts. New energy.

If you could see one type of shoot from me next… what would it be?
Moody? Coastal? Abandoned? Soft portraits?

No. 8 Mine – The Million Dollar Mystery

Hidden near Comox Lake Road, No. 8 Mine was one of the most ambitious coal operations of its time. Opened in 1913 by Canadian Collieries (Dunsmuir) Ltd., two shafts were sunk nearly 1,000 feet deep into the No. 4 coal seam.

A 73-home settlement called Puntledge quickly grew nearby, powered by advanced electric hoists run from the Puntledge River hydroelectric station — cutting-edge technology for the early 1900s.

But just over a year later, on August 5, 1914, the mine abruptly shut down. After nearly a million-dollar investment, the shafts flooded and operations ceased, earning it the nickname “The Million Dollar Mystery.”

Today, only concrete ruins remain — including the massive fan house foundation often mistaken for “Drac’s Castle.” Silent. Weathered. Still holding secrets.

Would you explore this place after dark? đź‘€

Nature’s fairytale, growing quietly on the forest floor.

Bright and bold on the forest floor, Amanita muscaria has enchanted people for centuries.
Used in ancient Siberian rituals, it was believed to open doorways between worlds.
In European folklore, it became the mushroom of fairytales and winter legends.
Reindeer were known to seek it out, adding to its mythic reputation.
Beautiful, mysterious, and steeped in story.
A reminder that nature always holds a little magic.

This page holds more like this.

Bevan Mines

Bevan Townsite was once a busy coal-mining community hidden in the forest.
By the early 1900s, multiple mine shafts cut into the land, worked by men and boys under dangerous conditions. Homes, a hotel, and a store quickly followed—until the mines closed and the town faded away.

Today, only foundations, bricks, and quiet trails remain. The forest reclaimed Bevan, but its story never left.

Forgotten places still have stories to tell.
