Never once during this session did I know what the light was going to do. It started off harsh and patchy, then 40 minutes later it disappeared completely. There was a bit of hiking, a bit of searching, and a lot of trusting the process.

Sometimes the best photos come from adapting instead of following the plan. This one turned out to be one of my favourite sessions of the season so far. 🤍

A confession: if I had to photograph only one thing for the rest of my career, it would probably be maternity sessions in rain boots.

This morning involved mud, questionable footing, multiple tick inspections, and a fair amount of wandering through the river looking for good light.

So basically, a perfect morning 👌

The funny thing is that these are often the sessions I remember most. Not because everything goes according to plan, but because it doesn’t. We explore, we improvise, we laugh, and somewhere in between we create images that feel natural and genuine.

A family look tip below ⬇️

The biggest compliment is when families come back for another session - and this one was such a sweet one to photograph 🥰 Everything came together beautifully: stylish and comfortable outfits, location, light, mood ❤️

A tiny outfit tip before your family photos: do the sit test.

Sit down, cross your legs, move around a little. If nothing feels too tight, rides up, or needs adjusting, you’re good. Especially with jeans, a slightly relaxed or wider fit is usually much more comfortable than something tight around the waist.

They mentioned wanting the session to feel a little magical, and Stanley Park was the first place that came to mind - the trails, the soft spring greenery, and the cherry blossoms felt like the right fit.

I may have slightly scared them about parking, so we arrived 30 minutes early 😅, which honestly worked out perfectly. The light was beautiful that day, and we slowly made our way through the busy spots, finding quiet little pockets along the trails ✨

Can’t believe I haven’t posted this beautiful day ✨ Summers always fly by so quickly, and somehow the sweetest sessions end up sitting in my camera roll a little longer than they should 🙃
