Grey Wolf Patrolling the Alaska Highway
April 12, 2024
This was the most interesting and elusive animals I have gotten to photograph yet! I saw it eating on a kill on the side of the road. While I initially putting some distance between us, it stood there watching to make sure I left his dinner alone! Next one to cross off the list is a Lynx.

Hoarfrost in Whitehorse, Winter 2024
This picture makes me feel things, and I can't explain why. It feels like it belongs hidden under thin film of dust at the back of a thrift store. A picture from a different time.

These are some of the most majestic peaks you can have the privilege of seeing while you travel 247km through untouched alpine wilderness. You start by driving through some of the tallest mountains in Canada by Kluane park, eventually reach barren alpine tundra with only mosses and grass. Then in what feels like mere minutes, you descend to the mild and rainy climate of Haines, with trees large enough to make you think you were in the lower 49. Definitely a drive that will blow your mind the entire way!

It was amazing to be back with the old guard to feel the love and friendship of those who have been there for me from the beginning, and those who jumped on the bandwagon later on 😆
Thanks to all my Cranbrook gang, you tired me out getting caught up with everyone, but I would not have had it any other way. You all make it so hard to head home to the place where I belong and love so much. Nothing would make me happier than for Whitehorse to be as close as Kimberley. Thankfully when I find my way back, you all make me feel like I've never left. Like slipping back into that favorite pair of sweatpants from the bottom of the drawer.
Thank you for that. A piece of you is all traveling up north with me, feel free to come claim it back anytime. Love you all!

Golden hour in Haines, September 20, 2023
Fort Williwam H. Seward (visible in the middle right) was one of 11 American Military posts constructed in Alaska during the gold rush era. Built in 1902 officially to police the influx of people to the area, it also strengthened the American position in the Alaska Boundary Dispute as the base was well inside the Canadian claim. It remained the only active base in Alaska from 1925 to 1940. The fort was named after the man who negotiated the Alaska purchase, who never lived long enough to see the immense economic and geopolitical benefits of this purchase. The purchase was nicknamed "Seward's Folly" by his many critics who saw it as an acquisition of purely useless land.
