BUTTERNUT CRES STRUCTURE FIRE

At 6:57am, fire crews were dispatched to 18 Sunrise Crt. in Fort Erie for a report of smoke and flames visible from a new build row of townhouses. Crews have since determined this is a new build on Butternut Crescent.

Station 4 District Chief with Fort Erie Fire and Emergency Services called dispatch over the radio immediately after the call came in and reported heavy black smoke in the area.

Crews responded to find a new build construction site fully involved with fire, and requested an additional ladder from Station 2, and a pump and rescue from Station 5.

Crews battled the blaze in a defensive fire operation knocking the massive blaze down rather quickly.

Two aerial trucks were flowing master streams from above which was a huge help.

Fort Erie Fire said no one was inside at the time and no injuries were reported.

A Fort Erie Fire inspector was called to the scene as well as the Ontario Fire Marshalls office.

Niagara Regional Police Forensic team was also dispatched to assist in the investigation.

The Empire building - Niagara Falls - MAJOR HISTORICAL BUILDING DESTROYED BY FIRE

NIAGARA FALLS -

Niagara Falls Fire and Emergency Services were dispatched to the corner of Park St. and Erie Ave (Also known historically as THE EMPIRE BUILDING0 for reports of smoke in the area at 7:45pm January 1st, 2025.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the structure on the south east corner of the intersection of Park St. and Erie Ave.

Crews noticed heavy fire conditions and worked a defensive fire attack strategy.

Two aerial trucks were set up for master streams dumping water onto the building after fire ripped through the roof.

Several hand lines and ground monitors were set up pouring water into the structure from a distance, as they had to stay a distance back outside of the collapse zone.

At one point, the second floor collapsed inside the building onto the first floor.

Crews have been on scene now for several hours and will be battling this blaze for some time more as they cannot get to the hot spots as it is not safe to enter the structure due to collapse.

No injuries were reported.

The Ontario Fire Marshals office was notified and will be responding to the scene, not sure if that will be tonight or in the morning.

City of Niagara Falls Fire Inspectors will also be working on the investigation.

Foresthill Cres Pelham Structure Fire

PELHAM -

Pelham fire crews were called to 18 Foresthill Crescent in Pelham shortly after 8pm this evening for a reported structure fire at 7:47pm. Caller indicated that all occupants are out of the home and across the street and there is heavy black smoke in the basement.

Crews arrived to find no smoke or flames visible.

Upon investigation, they have found heavy smoke in the basement of the home.

At 7:50pm, heavy smoke was noticed coming from the rear of the structure and command requested a second alarm.

Crews made entry into the home and found fire and heavy smoke.

Crews worked on primary and secondary search confirming all occupants were clear from the home.

Fire crews attacked the blaze bringing the fire under control very quickly. I was not able to confirm if the fire was contained to the basement only or if it has spread.

Crews contained the fire quickly and worked on clearing the smoke from the home.

The hydro and natural gas has been shut off at the meters.

Red Cross was called in to assist the family with their needs.

The fire will be under investigation and cause and dollar loss is not yet determined.

Fitch St. / Wellbrook Blvd Structure Fire - Welland

WELLAND -

CLARK PEDDLE LAW OFFICE

Fire crews were dispatched around midnight tonight to a reported structure fire on the second floor of the structure located at 423 Fitch St.

Crews arrived to find heavy fire on the second floor of the structure. Crews made an aggressive offensive fire attack however they quickly changed to a defensive fire attack due to the second floor being fully involved with fire which spread up into the attic and roof area.

Fire ripped through the roof of this structure causing heavy damage.

All occupants of the structure are accounted for and no injuries were reported while I was on scene.

The structure suffered extensive fire damage and the cause and dollar loss is not yet estimated and determined.

HWY 3 HOLLOWAY BAY RD WATER TRUCK ROLL OVER

FORT ERIE -

A water truck traveling west bound on Highway 3 at the Fort Erie / Port Colborne boarder line has lost control, spinning around coming to rest upside down in a ditch this afternoon just around 1pm.

Fire crews from Port Colborne, and Fort Erie responded to the crash, with reports of the driver trapped inside the vehicle.

The driver of the water truck was out of the truck by the time the fire department arrived on scene.

Niagara EMS did transport the driver of the truck to the Welland County Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

This incident took place in a construction zone and construction was to be cleared up by November 29th, 2024.

It did not appear that any other vehicle was involved.

St. Catharines. - an early morning blaze was quickly brought under control after a fire in an apartment above a convenience store at 111 Facer St. in the city of St. Catharines Sunday October 27th, 2024 at 8am.

Two people were transported to St. Catharines General with smoke inhalation. Unfortunately, two pets were lost in the fire, a cat and a dog. Other pets were removed from the structure by fire fighters which were saved.

The fire is under investigation by the St. Catharines Fire and Emergency Services along with the Ontario Fire Marshalls office.
