Beautiful BC never disappoints! Black bears foraging the shoreline, sinuous arbutus trees, and waterfalls plummeting into the ocean...what could be better? Here are a few images from a stunning day out on the water with Campbell River Whale Watching.

*These images were captured with a telephoto lens, which compresses distance and can make subjects appear significantly closer than they actually were. At all times, appropriate and legally required distances were maintained, and all photography was conducted in accordance with local regulations and safety guidelines.

A few photos from a beautiful day out on the water with Campbell River Whale Watching & Adventure Tours last week.

This day was extra special because I got to bring my sister on her first whale watching tour, and we were lucky enough to see a pod of transients just north of Campbell River.

A big thank you to Tyler and the team for having us out.

"Each spring along the coast of Vancouver Island, herring gather in huge numbers to spawn in shallow waters, turning the ocean a milky turquoise. This short-lived event creates a surge of food that draws in eagles and other wildlife in an intense feeding frenzy" said Sara.

Want to join me in the Faroe Islands this October?

I’ll be co-leading this amazing OFFBEAT landscape photography trip with the super talented Wayne Simpson October 22–27, 2026.

The Faroe Islands are one of my favourite places in the world. They’re raw, rugged and always provide incredible photographic opportunities. Think dramatic cliffs plunging into the ocean, constantly shifting weather, and landscapes that feel wild and untouched. And there's sheep...plenty of sheep!

Over the course of the trip we’ll explore some of the islands’ most spectacular locations, spend a lot of time in the field, and work with the conditions to create unique images and memories. With a small group and plenty of hands-on guidance, there will be lots of opportunities to refine compositions, talk through creative approaches, and make the most of whatever the Faroese weather throws at us.

If you’ve ever wanted to photograph this incredible part of the world, we'd love to have you along.

A few monochrome frames from our recent trip to Japan. I packed light this time, just my camera and a 16mm lens for wandering when we weren't snowboarding.

As always, Japan delivered on every level. So grateful we got to spend more time there.

Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is a stunning glacial lake in southeast Iceland, known for its floating blue icebergs that calve off the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier.

From the shoreline, you can view the glacier in the distance, the mountains guiding your eye toward the water, and icebergs slowly drifting toward the nearby ocean before washing up on the famous Diamond Beach.
