Team Canada earns a 5th place finish in the 2020 World Photographic Cup!
We had an awesome team this past year and four of our members earned Top 10 recognition with 3 of those going on to win Bronze medals. While the announcement is a bit late (we were supposed to be in Italy to accept these awards in March) we are thrilled with the results. Congratulations to the entire team, and an extra shout out to:
Reportage Bronze Medal: Kristian Bogner
Portrait Bronze Medal: Cassandra Jones
Nature Bronze Medal: Amanda Beers
Portrait Top 10: Jamie Bard Dubé

Robert Coates is one of Team Canada's 2020 finalists, and we asked him about his photo. "This image of two Icelandic horses was captured on a trip to Iceland where this unique breed of horses was a focus of my travels there. To return to Canada with an image that has become so acknowledged and applauded by my professional peers is a testament that my goal was realized. And to be in the company of all the other photographic artists whose work is represented on this international stage is humbling, to say the least." www.coatesportraitdesign.com

WPC Team Canada 2020

In 1993, the Stanley Cup made it's last visit to Canada. My Mom, all 5" nothing of her, went and bought a disposable camera, stood outside her office on Blvd Rene Levesque, and took this, and many other, shots. She knew I loved the Habs.

There is another cup we can bring to Canada. The World Photographic Cup. Team Canada 2020 is being assembled as I type, as AWARE photographers around the country are putting themselves and their images up for consideration.

Will you be one of those photographers? Do you have what it takes?

Can you help out by making every Photographer in Canada aware of WPC Team Canada 2020 by sharing this? We don't care if you belong to an association (although it is $10 cheaper if you belong to one of the sponsoring ones!). We are about the image, and the photographer. If you have an exceptional image, you can be part of the team.

The 93 Habs did not have an exceptional season, or a bunch of truly exceptional players. But they had an exceptional run, and an exceptional will to WIN.
