Smith’s Cove Fire Department

Smith’s Cove Fire Department may be a small department but is a Department with huge heart and a huge desire to help just like the entire fire service. Seen in the photo is our 1989 GMC Tanker amongst the lineup of fire trucks who stepped up to answer the call for West Dalhousie.

Fire Departments are always a work in progress that there is always that next project and we are continually working towards being better and giving the best versions of ourselves. If we win the grand prize or secondary prize this will be put towards the biggest issue we face before us right now and that’s replacing our Tanker.

Smith’s Cove Fire Department

Since our beginnings in the early 1950’s to our incorporation in 1971 as the Smith’s Cove Fire Department we have strived to be involved in our community. With 30 Firefighters and a mission to continue to improve and grow, we work to not only be an integral resource for Smith’s Cove community but several communities in our county. Many of our members live and work in the surrounding county but are involved in our department to help provide fire protection and education, warming centre services, medical first aid and assist in the volunteer-based events in our communities. Safety and service have been our focus since the 1950’s and will continue to be as we update our equipment and continue to be involved in our outstanding county and community.
